Only gloves I have at the moment are Rapha’s regular pro team gloves and need something warmer. Used to have a pair of winter gloves I liked (Also Rapha, the Winter ones with black and pink cuff).

Would these MAAP ones be similar in warmth? My hands always freeze unless I’m smashing it which I won’t be doing much of!

These are the best gloves I have ever had, absolutely love them. Used them down to -8C and still didn’t have cold hands

A lifetime spent in the mountains in the winter has left its mark on me - noteably hands and feet that get cold easily. For the hands the best option is always a good thermal underglove (fleece or the like) and an exterior shell glove. The more loft the inner glove has and the more windproof the outer glove, the warmer will be your hands. Has the advantage of allowing you to remove the shell glove when things heat up. Also can be an affordable solution as the gloves don't have to be cycling specific. By all means buy those lovely Maap gloves, but also give the multi glove approach a try. When it's really cold - low single digits, I will wear a thermal glove with another thermal windstopper glove on top. Sizes have to be chosen carefully so everthing fits and your fingers are not restricted from movement.

Comfortable at -8C - I am jealous of the quality of the blood circulation in your hands.

I believe these gloves are made by DexShell. A number of brands have similar offerings. They come in a variety of weights. They offer decent warmth except when in rains. The membrane is close to the skin with the knitted part on top. The knitted material becomes saturated with cold water and will conduct heat away from the hands. They also can be very sweaty if used in too warm temps. Amazingly they are waterproof, and at the right temperatures I can ride in the rain with dry comfortable hands. They are also very bulky so they may no fit in typical jersey pockets. I have three pairs in different weights. I use the heaviest ones for walking my dog in the rain, too sweaty for riding for me.

No gloves at 5C, f'me. I am a sorry excuse for a Canadian. At 5C I dress like an Iditarod competitor.

Rapha Pro Winter and Maap Base winter gloves are comparable. Good for around 5-12 degrees. I have both and like both.

Rapha also has the deep winter gloves which are very toasty and Maap just released their deep winter apex (not neo) gloves which look comparable and very warm...both are quite pricey though. I'm gonna get one but undecided.

Same issue, though thankfully I've moved further south now, but winter for years for me was agony. Each ride a personal hell. Two layers makes more sense, with the air trapped between - one thing I do now is make sure I have a lot of room in the gloves so there's no pressure points. Ride in a size larger these days than I used to.

Cheers Marko, just got round to sitting down now to do some shopping. Going to pick up the MAAP gloves just for a change and see how they are. I'd love the Deep Apex gloves, but that price tag!

Need to really be doing more miles to justify those, will see!

Can you post some photos and feelings of them when they arrive? I’m also interested in them but there is no extra information online.

No can buddy. Asked MAAP when they were coming back in stock in the EU and they said sometime in 2022. So I’m now back looking for a pair. I’ll probably see if Rapha does a discount for Black Friday and pick up a pair there. Shame because I have a good MAAP discount code! Used it in some base layers and cap and socks instead. What I don’t like about the Rapha pair is the stupid pink lining in the cuffs. They have a Pro Team Winter version now which I should prefer but I bet they’re not as warm in use and also they have a design flaw on the cuff - stitching will and has been coming apart for users. Maybe I could dye the pink band on the normal winter pair..

I would suggest Sportful's Fiandre gloves. While the wife and I don't do much riding when temps are forecast to stay below 45° F (7° C ), but I can say my hands are sweating in the Fiandre gloves when temps go much above that.

How about a warm (down to ~40d) non-bulky glove? Breathes, wind resistant and not necessarily water proof; but water resistant?

Bonus for tactile finger thing for iPhone touch.
