2021 PRO equipment thread

My take; it's a bit like fashion, things come back once in a while.
Like rounded seat tubes, threaded bottom brackets and so on that all of a sudden they get "discovered" by this or that big brand.
Cycling is a very traditional sport so I dont think they will never totally dissapear.
As for cycling market/industry, at some point in the future they will be "rad" again.

I am not about to sell all of my tubular rimsets because Pros are made to run clinchers. I kind of doubt that tubs will disappear completely like mentioned above. Its amazing though that tubs have endured all the clinchers and tubeless as of late and I dont think that its all down to traditional cycling appeal.

I actually ride a Fuji Roubaix Elite Frame
Specialized licenses the Roubaix name in the U.S. from ASI, owner of the Fuji, Breezer and Kestrel brands, said Patrick Cunnane, president of ASI.
"ASI owns the Roubaix trademark in the USA," Cunnane said.
"ASI purchased the Fuji and Roubaix (and many other) trademarks from the Japanese owners of the Fuji brand when
ASI was formed to purchase the company in 1998.
Fuji uses the Roubaix mark worldwide and has since 1987. ASI licenses the trademark to Specialized," he said.

That explains why 2019 was the last Fuji Roubaix too
They call them SL-A now
This is, AFAIK, the first big win on clinchers. Bugno, Stuttgart WC 1991, Michelin clinchers with latex tubes.elSid wrote:Frederic Guesdon won 1997 Paris Roubaix on clinchers. Not certain if that was the first monument win on clinchers.

Unlikely. More likely is that he was on Michelin tubs that looked just like their iconic clinchers.elSid wrote:Frederic Guesdon won 1997 Paris Roubaix on clinchers. Not certain if that was the first monument win on clinchers.

That's what I thought! There's still a Bugno/Michelin poster in my parents' basement from around that time. My dad used to work for Michelin and we were very early adopters of their clincher tires...usually in 18mm widthXCProMD wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:15 pmThis is, AFAIK, the first big win on clinchers. Indeed, here's a photo of the Poster, with a list of more clincher wins in 1990
