It also doesn't share a long border with a country notable for its corruption, and low GDP.
Are you talking about Canada?

Italian FCI appointed Bennati as new CT for the National Team.
In the past 1 (2?) years he was collaborating with Rai as a side commentator, and honestly he didn't shine as very good.
Pity Cipollini didn't want to take the chance, it would have been fun.

Agreed, and very boring too, like Petacchi. A tuscan thing maybe?

I agree on that Cipollini equals fun, but if he was ever invited in the first place, i think he did the right thing by not accepting the coach position. I think it would only detract from his current living legend status...

But it would be a lot more entertaining. That I am sure about!

Imagine a Netflix season following for a year Mario managing the Italian National team.

Just read that pentathlon is going to change from equestrianism to cycling after the scandals at the Olympics. Will be interesting to see what discipline they choose. Might actually make pentathlon interesting.

Remember, Cippolini is Tuscan also (hometown Lucca). As a coach he would likely be a disaster. A ton of ego and not at all the right personality or character traits to make a competent coach. Sometimes boring can be good. I do admit however that the entertainment value of Mario involved in anything is usually worth the mayhem.

I would like to see him take the record.

A friend of mine in the UK has a son who is haemophiliac - Alex has a charity which does good work in helping educate and support parents of children with blood disorders. He is a good guy.

A ride of 54.555km. He did beat the distance of the Wiggins (54.526km), but not the unofficial British record of Bigham (54.723km).
