The riders broke the rules of their contract. They should have been smarter because actions have consequences in real life.
We don't know the rules of their contract. We don't even know if these riders already had to return their EF bikes and have no other bikes to ride.

Whatever the contract says, losing two months salary for a pic or video appearing on the internet seems like quite a harsh punishment.

This being leaked to cycling news is the only problem. The fact that EF quickly back pedaled on the salary cut tells me that they might not have even been able to do that per language of the contract. If they had followed through, they certainly would have been legal wrangling.
More baseless nonsense. No actual insight or information, just repeating the same line over and over.

I doubt Bianchi had much of a say. Giant probably made BikeExchange a much better offer.

I wasn't going to post any more on this stupid subject but rather than calling names, why not just give it a rest? You have nothing interesting to add to the conversation.

^ He didn't call you any names, merely pointed out that you expressed opinions that have little basis in reality -
1) hypothetical team requirement to return bikes, yet require him to ride one? Think about the logic there, unless you believe EF is a malevolent organization
2) back away from their threat because it's not legal? Well, I haven't seen the rider's contract, but I'd bet money that management has a better handle on what the contract says, and what is enforceable, vs the rider. It's far more likely that they felt they could/should back away because 1) they made their point to ALL the riders 2) the external optics were crappy, lousy risk/reward ratio.

Maybe you should realize that those are all YOUR opinions and have little basis in reality. And that can be said for most opinions on this board. None of us have seen their contracts and EF or the riders haven't posted so anyone here posting is speculating. Nobody can be wrong on either side of this conversation.

This seems like a very strange story - bilharzia can in rare cases lie dormant - so no person is saying that Froome was having a swim in infected waters. However it is odd they say that he suffered re-infection at the Tour de France.

It is not like the form of Froome dropped at the Tour de France - his form was poor in general this year. I think many would understand if it was simply said that Froome had a terrible accident in 2019 and has suffered a set-back in recovery. Strange to again use bilharzia as an excuse.

If it's a strange excuse that sounds odd and serves no apparent purpose, maybe it's simply the truth.

If you can explain what purpose it serves to lie in this case then great. But if (as you seem to be suggesting) choosing it as a lie is even stranger than the claim itself, then you are confused about what horses and zebras look like.

Or he's laying the groundwork for a miraculous transformation again like the 2011 season.

If he knows he can get storming form back just like that why didn't he do it this year?
