What do you mean? Sam Gaze races MTB for Alpecin Fenix
That's not a very sound understanding of peloton psychology. At some point the peloton has to say 'enough' and it doesn't matter who's attacking. If you let Fedorov go then someone else will see that attacks are still being allowed and he'll go next. If it's another nobody do you have to let him go too? Ok, so someone else sees that and he goes as well! Now you've suddenly got an extra 3 people up the road even though your DS has already told you the break is big enough, and there are 50 more 'nobodies' still fighting for position around you because they still think they might be allowed to go too.sychen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:52 amAs dumb as federovs reaction not being allowed to breakaway from that far out.. You might think Fedorov is just a nobody, but in the context of the race it still matters whether or not you let him go.

A bad head injury and subsequent depression pretty much wiped out his 2019 and 2020 seasons from what I understand.Raimundo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 4:37 pmGreat news for Julien Vermote.

Aplecin-Fenix just got stronger and wiser.
BTW, anybody knows why Sam Gaze never came aboard?
Apparently the UCI also DQd someone at GP Indurain for dropping a wrapper while trying to put it back in their pocket 2021 is going to be a great year for PR consultants in Lucerne!

Federov also had a teammate already in the break, the peloton prefers having only one per team in the break as to not risk one of the two working while the other 'rests' then goes for it late when the others are cooked and the peloton is closing, that can make it harder to control when the peloton is starting to have fewer gregarios, even if the two teammates are relative nobodies.Karvalo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:12 pmThat's not a very sound understanding of peloton psychology. Thanks Karvalo, indeed, that was some dark period for him from what i just read, i won't even put up a link about this...Karvalo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:19 pmA bad head injury and subsequent depression pretty much wiped out his 2019 and 2020 seasons from what I understand.Raimundo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 4:37 pmGreat news for Julien Vermote.

Apparently he still was able to remain in the Alpecin-Fenix squad, albeit the development part of the team. Not all is lost than.
The guy that ended Nino's monster winning streak, will surely bounce back this season, in no time he will be up there with the best. I still believe he has a great potencial as a classics rider/rouleur.
I hope so, the guy's an absolute monster. No idea what he's like on longer races but anyone who could outsprint MvDP has to be taken seriously!Raimundo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:01 pmApparently he still was able to remain in the Alpecin-Fenix squad, albeit the development part of the team. Where was that?
Covered on some Twitter thread and also above by lantern Rouge podcast.
Last night stage 2 Basques country.. 1 Roglic and 2 McNulty in gc should have according to uci be DQed.
Roglic tosses a bottle at 31km and McNulty puppy paws it to reach the breakaway.
Uci now have dug them selves a hole. I wonder if the riders are calling their bluff.

? Did you saw him racing in 2020?
Last time i heard about him (end of 2019 or beginning of 2020, don't remember correctly anymore) he already had a contract with AF, and the big news was that he would be reinforcing the road classics squad in 2021.
He would also be MVDP partner in MTB, but i never saw him at all anymore... was he in any XCO race last year with the AF jersey?
I might have missed a XCO race last summer if any, but i have no brain picture of him riding for AF in the reduced (covid19) WC circuit 2020. And what Karvalo points at actually explains why i never saw him again...
Either way, if you know any XCO race he did in 2020 feel free to tell me which one so i can watch it at RedbullTV

It was easy to miss the XCO season last year, every World Cups + Worlds were all compressed into like 2 weeks with so many venues cancelling their races.Raimundo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 12:57 am? Did you saw him racing in 2020?

Regarding Annemiek, there was a soigneur there, it seems she dropped the bottle to him.
Not that it matters, the rule probably doesn't allow even that. Not much difference between a soigneur and a fan in that regard. Perhaps her action wasn't seen by a member of the jury as Schar's was?

Not in stage races.
