And he makes it two for two. He really showed confidence in the sprint today starting it himself instead of just following.
Now the hype is real. Cav for the Tour! :D

As happy as I am for Cav after his anni horibili, I'd love to see André also get a W. He seems to be a great guy

Agreed, always thought he was a great racer and good sportsman.

Sorry if I missed the discuession, but wasn't Eufemiano Fuentes the doctor at the center of 'Operación Puerto' supposed to give an interview recently? Were there any bombshells or just more drivel?
Just drivel, he just really seemed to enjoy being on TV but did not say anything new...when he was asked direct questions the answer was most of the time "maybe...maybe not". He mentioned a handful of people (none of them cyclists) who the program tried to contact and get more info from but they all declined. One of the a Spanish runner and an Ex-President of Real Sociedad....the whole thing seemed to be a waste of time...
Maybe he only wanted to scare his clients who have been spared, you know, a reminder that he could still end a few careers so keep the regular 'gifts' coming.

More like 3 annis horribili...

Cav did have a few Bouhanni-esque years, he was an arrogant douche when he was younger. Caused his fair share of crashes. Didn't he caused that big crash in a sprint that ruined Heinrich Haussler's career, you know that time he even walked back to spit on him? Haussler was never the same, never was competitive after that. Cav got nicer as he got older and had kids.

This cold-blooded move always defined Cav for me.

Keep in mind that there's only three WT teams in this race: DQS, Astana and Israel Start-Up Nation

Astana brought Team Kazakhstan.
ISN's sprinter is Greipel, who is older than Cav.
There's other WT sprinters in the race like Hodeg and Jakobsen, but they're Cav's teammates.
Philipsen seems like the only other relevant sprinter.

That true, but he's beaten Jasper now 3 times in a row.
Jasper is a big sprinting talent and he won the scheldeprijs last week so it's not that he's out of shape

I am sure Cavendish has been in quite a few low(er)-level races in the last three years and hasn't managed to win any of them...to this definitely looks like a step up, a massive confidence boost if nothing else.

And, man they really like their flags in Turkey...
Canyon Aeroad, Votec VRC, Fuji Jari Carbon, Sensa Fermo SL, Principia R700, Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra, Ciöcc Singlespeed

I might be misremembering but I'm sure this happened once and the organisers said the finish line was painted wonky relative to the photo setup and that's what counted? Though in this case it'd have to be quite seriously off!

If temper that a bit and say that both today and stage 2 it looked like Alpecin cocked up the leadout a bit and stuck Philipsen on the front before he wanted to launch , so Cav had a bit longer to come around. That said, he has looked genuinely faster too.
