Are any of you using some sort of mirror when you go out riding?
I'm out of practice with looking behind me, craning my old neck around hurts and it's causing me to veer/wobble off my [intended] line.
I used to turn my head a little and look downwards to glance behind me. But this doesn't seem to be working. (or maybe I need to stretch more)
I have seen some very small mirrors that go inside your sunglasses, but I have wrap-around sunglasses so I don't think they'll work...
Does anyone make a STYLISH diminutive helmet mirror or something? Argghhh.
I've had two onroad accidents in Australia ... it's causing me to become a very nervous cyclist.
I've lost my confidence; I'm just not sure what to do. *sigh*

I've got TheBeam mirrors on 5 bikes now, they're excellent and you can fold them away.
There are copies on Aliexpress but they're flimsy and have the wrong magnification, so get the original.

+1 for the Varia Radar. Will never ride without one on open roads again.robbosmans wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 3:56 pmGarmin radar and here are a couple https://www.google.be/amp/s/www.cycling ... 468095/amp

Thanks for your replies. The varia... looks alright but a bit out of my budget... this time around...
I think if I was going that route I'd try to find some sort of rearview camera... which may or may not exist...
I saw the beam corky. I think I'll give that a go, along with a few other cheap helmet/sunnies mirrors, see what performs best.

I got my Varia from Aliexpress. Less than $100. Why? Because I did not believe it was worth $200. After owning for about a year, I agree with the others. Do not leave home without it. I rarely ever look behind me now. I have no idea how any small mirror can really help you much. Turning your handlebars to aim just right sounds sketchy at best. FYI, I have no experience with a mirror so I could be way off base.
Like the others, Varia....Don't leave home without it. Since you do not have money to burn, do not try the Garmin Vison. Paired with the Varia, you cannot ask for anything better. What's behind you is always in your field of vision.

The thing is, I'm not really into electronic gadgets on bikes.
I don't have a speedometer or HRM anymore, no electronic shifting either.
The varia... is something I would like to try before I buy... also, the styling/design of it does nothing for me.
My "safety budget" (after helmet) is about $300 altogether.
So it's something I'd consider in future.

I ordered one of those beam corky thingies.
And one of these:
If it's good enough for a former pro, it must be alright.
Of course I'm gonna attempt to tune it!
I figure that it's not much outlay if it's not right, only twenty or thirty bucks
I might also try the blackburn helmet mirror.

Also if you are having a hard time looking back it probably could be bike fit related?
