Some 50 yrs after his career ended, his popularity in France is incredible. The French 8pm tv news shows opened with his passing, and not just a mention either - career and life retrospective, Poupou trying on Anquetil's yellow jersey for laughs, Eddy commenting on the greatness of Poupou, mourning bicyclists...
