Hello
Does anyone know when or if SRM will release their new computer? I looked online and there is no news.

Just out of curiosity, where did you read that there could be a new PC on the way?

Other than upgrading the PC8's GPS chip so that it actually works and fixes on satellites, I don't know what could be improved in a new version. For straight up power metric monitoring, it does a pretty good job as it is.
the bad gps was the reason i sold mine, a upgraded version would be awesome.BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 8:38 amOther than upgrading the PC8's GPS chip so that it actually works and fixes on satellites, I don't know what could be improved in a new version. I have had two PC8's and neither one would lock onto a GPS signal within five minutes of trying. OTOH, my wife's cheapy Garmin running watch finds a GPS signal in about 3 seconds in my front yard.
That said, it's not a problem for me since I don't care about GPS as I don't do Strava and I live in a very small place with no need for mapping or route tracking. For everything I want the PC8 is perfect.
starting the ride needs atleast 5min for finding the gps signal,
gps accuracy is really bad, every cheap phone is more accurate.
When riding on my home trails the pc8 gets like 2/10 strava segments....

The GPS signal pick up is still bad and it can also just drop out mid ride. It's very frustrating. Hopefully a PC9 is in the works with improvements.

My PC8 does take about half a mile of pedaling before it usually locks on to a gps signal. In contrast, my wife's cheapo garmin watch will lock on as soon as she walks outside! I don't really care that much about gps but I wouldn't complain if SRM improved it. The PC8 is pretty hard to top if you just want simply training and cycling metrics on a clear and easy to navigate screen without having to have a huge unit.

GPS lock is slow but that's because it doesn't use GLONASS. If I recall correctly, the Garmin is fairly slow to lock onto satellites if GLONASS is disabled. The only thing I'd improve with the PC8 is time to lock onto GPS. Oh, and maybe auto lap like Garmin so my laps in Strava aren't all shifted over.
