Co2 and sealant reaction

Got a puncture (Conti Comp) on the roadside and though, piece of cake, nothing to worry about!

Poured some Joe's No Flat in the tyre and took my Co2 and started.
All of a sudden it bubbled along the hole tire bead, it didn't seal at all.

Called a buddy which came with a portable car compressor. It got even worse, now the whole tire started to bubble 360.
We took the bike over to his house and used a seriously huge compressor.
Nothing helped, leaked all over.
Kind of suspect the sealant and Co2 reacted, cause it seemed like i had poured acid in to the tire.

How the hell do you fix a roadside flat riding tubulars?
Bring a new tire?

Don't say Slime sealant cause that crap is just, crap!

You use Tufo Carbon Sealant (previously called Tufo Extreme). It can be used after getting a flat ONLY, not suitable as a preventive measure!

I doubt the sealant reacted with the CO2 other than perhaps localized freezing if you were silly enough to use the CO2 with the valve at/near 6 o'clock.

It's more likely just a huge unsealable gash in tube itself.

Only time I had a tubular flat on the road I poured in 1oz of stans and immediately co2ed it. Didn't even did the shake and wait thing, it was raining and freezing cold. It didn't leak any air and I was back riding instantly. Maybe I was just lucky. Had two other slow punctures over time which I only discovered back home. One was more of a proper cut rather than a piercing, stans didn't work, had to remove it. The third time was a small hole and I used continental. Sealed fine but a bitch to insert as it tended to clog the extender.

Vittoria Pit Stop works for me. Of course, no sealant can fix big holes.

If using CO2, I’d suggest doing in small pumps. If you unload all at once it usually doesn’t seal very well.

I’ve used tufo extreme with co2 and works great when I do in small pumps.

Of course putting the hole face down on the ground and letting the sealant get to there helps as well.

Picked up some orange seal (not the endurance one) so will try that next time I get a flat.
