Garmin has now officially announced the Edge 530 and Edge 830 models. As with the previous models, mostly the same functionality with the 530 having buttons and the 830 having a touchscreen and full mapping capabilities. DC Rainmaker with full reviews of both.

The Anti bike theft application is a nice touch, hope they add it to the 1030 software!

I like it. I like the larger screen and longer battery life over my current 520. I'll probably get the 830 over the 530 now that the touchscreen has been improved. But does anyone know if the touchscreen will use a bit more power hence a lower battery life compared to the 530?

And alas we'll have to wait at least another update cycle before we'll see USB C on a Garmin device. My eyes are so bad now and I always get the wrong end of the plug to match up with the USB micro socket...

The faster CPU should have been there since 820. Now it finally becomes the product to beat.

And yes... USB-C pls....

I don't use routing enough to appreciate the minor improvements on the 830 over the 530 and while I like the touchscreen on my 1030, it's not game-changing. 20 hour battery life on a 5xx sized Garmin Edge though, that is very, very convenient, especially when after 3 years, the battery endurance will probably be more like 15 hours.

I've ordered both. 530 for me and an 830 for a friend.

Will play with both, but suspect the 530 will be fine due to preferring buttons to touchscreen.

Glad I recently sold my 820. Loved the idea of the touch screen but hated how flaky it was in real use. Had it replaced by Garmin for the halo fault and then sold the replacement. Currently using the Wahoo Bolt which does work well but would consider the 530 or 830 if they are not plagued by the usual early soft/firmware issues that seem to be inherent with new Garmin products..... :?

Why can't Garmin release an edge that is a true successor to the 500, just with glonass/galileo and improved training features and on-screen analytics?

No strava, no on-screen maps, no bullshit.

Is that not the Edge 130? Such an underrated unit!

The only knock against it is the price. It should be $130-150, not $200.

Also it doesn't do TSS/IF/NP or L/R power balance, and a few other important metrics. The hardware is already there.

Simple firmware upgrade. If they add it, I'll upgrade, otherwise sticking to my 500.

My 510 has been so flakey (software glitches) over the years that I swore I'd never buy another Garmin but the 530 looks pretty nice. I don't need a new bike computer but I'd like some of the more modern features.

Garmin kept the size the same...and the jump in size to the 1030 is a bit much. I like my current 810 size...which is inbetween the 820 and 1030. I wonder if Garmin is making an inbetween size or sticking to the current line up.

Yes it’s missing Cycling Dynamics display capabilities, but given the target market of those who just want a simple unit the works, I think that’s ok.

They did leave the door open for a US$499 Edge 930, but I’m guessing they don’t want to sacrifice 1030 sales.
