The 1992 trek 2300 is a lovely bike to ride. I am not sure carbon has transformed cycling. That's hyperbole. What ever they are bring out may bring new possibilities but park the hyperbole. My heaviest bikes are my favourite to ride when though they are not the quickest. By that I mean I get the most joy from riding them.

https://cyclingtips.com/2019/03/cycling ... you-tease/

“The key to the new technology, which was originally developed for delivering metallic coatings, is a mechanical fusion process driven by a cold gas. There is no need to melt the titanium particles to create a structure, which simplifies and speeds up the manufacturing process. It also promises to be cheaper, and other materials can be introduced into the structure to improve specific properties.”

An automated production time of 25 minutes is indeed a revelation. Perhaps enough to change cycling forever when you consider the 12–24 hour creation time often mentioned in production carbon fibre frame manufacturing."

i don't think it is 3d printing. but this tech is coming. 25minutes to 3d print a titanium frame. wtf !!! gamechanger

This. It's gonna be some sort of electric bike.

it is probably a 3d printed honeycomb with a geometry not previously possible. Take a look at this link for an idea:

Edit: this could be used as a core

FRM once advertised a road bike with a Honeycomb core, but dont know if it was ever made or was just vaporware.

Yes, some of these frames were produced back in 2007. It was the 'black hole model. That was really avantgarde, way more than any Trek of the same era:

Some companies are currently incorporating honeycomb in their carbon frames:

Trek is launching a justification to raise prices on its top models

Word from here is that it is some plant based fiber that is a cheaper and green alternative to carbon.
Could be true, Graphene isn't green. Bottom left looks like Kryptonite though.

Trek already did frames with honey comb spacer in between the carbon layers. If my memory serves me well it was for the TT frames (where narrow tube shapes had a limited quadratic moment -the « shape stiffness factor »- that HC help compensating).
Like several attempts with HC it didn’t last (and as an engineer I am really curious to understand the reasons).

I know what it is and no one is even close to guessing what it is.

The left appears to be a mesh type material acting as a stencil perhaps? The pattern on the right is non-uniform. Maybe a new surfacing technique to prevent turbulance and reduce drag?
