Trek are announcing they've hired an interior decorator to re-wallpaper their offices and the internet is going crazy over it....

If you know the name then the white paper / scientific research has been publicly on the web already.

Shall we play Hangman?

Was on reddit. Consensus seems to be dyneema. Based on what I saw elsehwere I think this is the leading theory

Some of you that work at other dealers are hard of reading... Why must you try everything to spill the beans without actually doing it when you have been asked not to? Poor form and disrespectul of your relationship with the brand.

Ok, helmets make sense:"increases impact energy absorption by up to 100 percent, while removing the risk of splintering.”

And maybe "the brand" should avoid "A change like this happens once every 30 years" and "Everything else is history" in the future. ;)

For bikes, DSM claims to be working with "several brands" on development projects with its new Dyneema Carbon, which incorporates Dyneema into sheets of carbon. DSM declined to name any specific brands.

If this catches on , it will have nothing to do with strenght or grams but whether it allows frame builders to make a cheaper frame. This is what truly motivates the industry, shaving costs.

So maybe we'll actually get a helmet that actually provides a reasonable level of protection......... or maybe not.

It'll just cost three times as much, weigh less and still only meets the same standards.

Trek is going to catch major hell for overselling this, and they'll deserve it.

Edit: Not to say it isn't a good product, it just isn't revolutionary in the way people are expecting.

Are they? Everyone seems to be talking about it, loads of the cycling news outlets are reporting on it. If it's a disappointment, they'll probably report all about the disappointment. Whether it's 'revolutionary' or not, in what is a crowded market, the Trek brand and whatever product this is will get plenty of airtime.

Sounds like a win for Trek, whatever happens.

Indeed, they like social media as long as it serves their buzz but you can’t give the “good answer” cause it blow their plan.
