Once every 30 years? Perhaps a new material for frames?

Some sort of graphene composite I'd wager. Curiosity is piqued though, pretty bold statement.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was about graphene too. Trek's entirely capable to go exotic and offer a - say - 15-20k frameset. someone will always buy it, but the more important outcome is they'll be able to brand themselves as the first who made a graphene bike

Great guess, given the teaser photo of a weave pattern and the reference to 30 years (it's technically been 25 since the C40), it certainly seems related to carbon fiber. Or at the very least, some material used to construct bike frames.

We know the new Domane is coming. We also know the Bontrager take on the Power saddle is coming. This doesn’t seem to be either.

If you look closely at the teaser image, it looks “fuzzy” like a fabric.

Raw carbon looks fuzzy like fabrc before it's treated. I'd join the bet on it being some new form of carbon, maybe graphene releated, being released with the new Domane.

1986 trek brought out carbon, so new bike material would be my guess. time uses vectram fiber in their carbon. i'm guessing trek is planning on doing something similar. years ago trek touted oclv fiber as something that gave them an edge. they may be attempting to update that strategy. that would be my guess. i also think it will be more marketing than anything else. if time's approach was so great other companies would have copied it long ago. anyway that's my guess

Bummer that it looks like a high end Kevlar aerospace textile. Forged carbon would be cooler, as it would eliminate high end AL and low end carbon and likely be cheaper. This might be for a MTB that can take a pounding.

Was just looking at this -https://cyclingtips.com/2016/12/crash-r ... oplastics/ Seems like the big benefit is the reduced material needed as you can lower the safety factor in some areas.
