Hubert Opperman used this bike to set a Perth-Sydney record of 13 days in 1937. Chainrings were 46 and 48 tooth and the three rear cogs were 15, 17, 19. A bit over one third of the 4400km distance was over completely unmade roads.

Matching bar tape and saddle!! They were ahead of their time in the fashion weenies division of weight weenies.

That's a lot of spokes.

And I dig that laid back (shallow) STA.

Nice, my Hetchins is only a year older and I'm certainly glad it doesn't have 1937 gearing and brakes!

Quite common for the day, I think the British 'standard' was 36F 40R

What does it weigh?

Now that's quite the ride considering over a third of the roads were unmade. Impressive
