I know that's sarcasm but nope, Porte rides a child's sized bike so whatever the weight penalty is on the disc Emonda it's still going to be a 6.8kg bike

... and cheap bikes can be made expensive with a bit of branding and marketing.

Particularly true when you consider that GIant are experts in carbon fibre fabrication and OEM a lot of parts for the expensive brands.

I hope he is one of those people who can learn and improve upon accidents and orher misfortune. He has had a long road to the top (kinda like G. Thomas), it wouldn't hurt the sport to see him in the GC battle all the way to a Grand Tour finish.
