Eh, Cav cried about lack of opportunity but the fact is that Sky was actually really gracious and respectful to the Rainbow Jersey.. Their Giro team that year was 100% centered around him and he took three stages. Then three stages in the Tour later despite having virtually no place in the team's ambitions (they even let him bring his bff along).IchDien wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 11:49 pmSame as Cav with SKY in the TDF etc. No?Karvalo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 8:16 pmAnyone think that maybe when Viviani was on Sky he was trying to be / made to be more of a utility rider as well as a sprinter, and now on QS he can purely train for the last 200m? OK he's got more opportunities and way more support, but he seems much faster on his own as well.
To be honest if you're a sprinter on any team with a GC ambitions then you simply have to be a utility rider.
In contrast, they basically told Viviani to just go away..
cav's win on stage 18 in 2012 is one of my all time favourite wins. unbelievable speed, in the wc jersey and being lead out by wiggo in yellow. i've watched that many times over on youtube.bilwit wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 1:35 amEh, Cav cried about lack of opportunity but the fact is that Sky was actually really gracious and respectful to the Rainbow Jersey.. Oh. It's a lot older than that, I think.
Sagan thought he could coast to the line. He comes around Impey, freewheels, and then realizes he has to actually sprint.

I must be going blind... I don't see Sagan freewheel at all.
Freewheel was the wrong word. It was a bit of a pause. He comes around out of the saddle for a brief moment, sits down, and then has to get out of the saddle again to hold off the Astana guy.

I think he just came around Impey and realized he was still too far out to be going all out, especially with the rise to the line.
No way, according to TobinHatesYou he doesn’t care and just freewheels the last 200m, propelled across the line by his sheer radness
If Sagan retires early cycling is gunna a lot more boring.
Viviani - Stage 21 of the Giro 2018, ran out of gas or misjudged lost out to Sam Bennet in the sprint, however I remember thinking why isn't he turning the pedals at 50m to go..

Interesting observation.. so far, all of the stages at the TDU, except Stage 2, have been won by a national champion.
Stage 1 - Elia Viviani - Italian National Champ
Stage 3 - Peter Sagan - Slovakian National Champ
Stage 4 - Daryl Impey - South African National Champ
