See Corendon zoekt nieuw geld (Corendon is looking for new money).

Circus online casino/betting will have much bigger ressources.
Looks more like strategic partner/investor rather than "we've got no cash".
Didn't realise that Circus were in gambling, they will also be able to call on "significant" reserves.

Anyone who thinks airlines have money is laughing! Old saying, if you want to make one million euro in aviation, start with two million euro...
Yeah, i'm familiar with how airlines do business. And how they move funds around.

Corendon depended on flights to Turkey. Due to the political uncertainties and troubles it had several shit years. It was also almost bankrupt in the early 2000s.

It’s pretty simple, they “move their funds” not around but straight out via expenses. Airlines are terrible businesses.

Does any rider get direct sponsorship from a bike manufactuer? I wonder if Canyon is kicking in on MVDP's salary. I guess he went with that small team so that he could have the flexibility to whatever he wants to do. Right now, his priority seems to be an Olympic medal.
Canyon obviously sponsor the team that employs him, but it also appears he's got some sort of personal arrangement too:

I wouldn't be doing it for free. They're trading on his name, his family name and his family history, I hope they were all remunerated handsomely.

If the 2023 Corendon contract is true, suposedly they want to step up as a world tour team by then. I could see Canyon pulling its support from one or both WT teams to faciliate this. But they only stepped up to Pro Continetial this year, ambitions are one thing, would they really want to have to field a team at the Vuelta in August so their star rider can ride one day races in April? :noidea:

Because they focus now on MTB for their sales?
MTB sales have been 10x bigger for them forever.
Would be interesting to see those numbers...

Even if true, MTB racing is of far less value to MTB sales than road racing is to road sales. Viewership and general awareness of WC racing is minuscule compared to WT and GT road racing.

I would not under estimate the amount of mtb viewers world wide:

I also reminder alarming press releases last year that the amount of viewers for the tour dropped year after
Year.

I saw something funny, I think it was on GCN... they called it the curse of the white bibs.... apparently the staticts are not good for riders that wear bib shorts vs. the races were they wore black.

He wore black on Wednesday and won.
