Biking Lost Me My Girlfriend

I never bought into "you need similar or same interests/hobby to make it work" theories. none of my gfs rode a bike, neither does my wife. I'm kinda happy actually, as riding is a "me time" and I wouldn't like to have to adjust and adapt to my better half's expectations in that department - instead I can ride what I want, where I want, for as much time/intensity as I please. IMHO everyone needs an area in his life, a space if you will, where no one sticks his nose in.
of course it looks nice to see how couples ride together and make it "them" time - I guess it's an issue of mental hygiene - how much time do you really want to/ need to spend with your partner. again, I can't imagine that sort of thing working for me in the long run.

Some people prefer to date themselves basically. If you or your partner can't deal with the fact that it's OK to have different hobbies where you do your own thing for a bit then there's some serious communication/attachment issues..tymon_tm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 4:01 pmI never bought into "you need similar or same interests/hobby to make it work" theories. none of my gfs rode a bike, neither does my wife. Most of my girlfriends are able to ski pretty well. Now I'm into biking, and tried to get my current gf into that too. But I realize, if we ever ride together, I'll be pushing her too much and it won't end up well. I'm also fine spending time riding by myself.

I've had one cycling girlfriend but she came to me fully formed. The rest were impossible to "convert" into cyclists. You might have a chance if your girl is already an endurance athlete but other than that, I think trying is a futile effort.
Seems like a good time for a few more reasons bicycles are better than women:
- You can ride your bicycle any time of the month.
- Bicycles don't whine unless something is really wrong.
- Bicycles don't care how many other bicycles you've ridden.
- Bicycles don't care how many other bicycles you have now.
- Bicycles don't care if you look at other bicycles.
- Bicycles don't care if you look at bike porn.
- Bicycles don't get headaches.
- Your bicycle never wants a night out with other bicycles.

I'm 22 she's 20. She does this thing where she stops wanting to talk to me, then cancels plans that we made months in advance. And then rekindles a few days later but it just ruins everything.

replace her like a worn out bike and shift gears onto the next better one. always N+1. AMIRITE?
Sounds like you need to end the relationship regardless of bikes. this behaviour is... agressive. no place for that in life.gramsqueen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:53 amI'm 22 she's 20. I'm with these guys, move on. You're young, take it from an old guy you've got several decade's worth of dating 20 some year old women left if you want. And if someday (or now) you want something more, it doesn't have to be that hard.
Rip the band-aid off now as these things can get more painful over time. Ride it off and you'll know when it's time to get going again.
When it's all worth it, be willing to compromise, but someone who truly cares about you will be able to work it out with you.

What they said! Cut her loose now and don't accept her back. She's a psycho, drama queen. It will never get better.
sounds like someone who is really needy and hasn't actually grown up yetgramsqueen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:53 amI'm 22 she's 20. most important in life is that you do what do you like to do - so others will be happy around you too
