Hi! I'm currently on the lookout for good to buy truck accessories that could help me transport my bike. Would like to get some suggestion on how to pick the right rack for the vehicle. There are a few options I've read about. I have a Ford Ranger and I'm undecided if I should get the bed bike rack or the hitch-mounted one.

By the way, here's one article I recently read

I have a Dodge RAM and I went for either inside the cab (frame holder + wheel bags; my favorite setup) or in the truck bed with the Saris Kool rack as I have a tonneau cover and I can not install the usual racks on the edge or at the top.

If you don't have any tonneau cover (or if you have a soft tonneau cover) then you have many more options with mounts on the top of the bed or on the edge of the bed.

Due you have a bed cover? Otherwise for a pickup, just get a 2x4 and this https://amzn.to/2MdEU28 . I think your bed has tie downs, right? The fork mount is sufficient to hold the bike. The rear tire attachment just keeps the back from bouncing a little with highway shimmys. You'll need to secure the tailgate down.

If you've already got a hitch, MAYBE go for the hitch rack. The problem with your car is that the bike is likely going be wider than car
