How do you clean your Gum walls?
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
I purchased/installed my Vittoria Corsa about 150 miles ago, and already they are slightly dirty. How do you guys keep them looking nice? Soap and water is my first thought but I dont want to put the wrong chemical on them and then they discolor more. Thoughts?
Notice the dark spots. Also the overall color of the gum is darker.

True to their name, magic erasers work. It's a lot of work though and if you ride a lot, you learn to get over it.

If you wanna stick with soap and water, just make sure to clean them right after times they get dirty. Like right after a wet ride or after changing a flat (knock on wood).

We have a few in the cabinet, I'll give one a whirl. Thanks!
Makes sense, Thanks!
Alcohol wipes like Sani Cloth 70% work well for getting more stubborn stains that water and soap won't remove
nothing like the original tan(ish) clean look though, even if you can get some of the scuff off it inevitably is more yellow than it was save it for race day maybe

Just apply Aquasure before your first ride. It is a clear coating recommended by Dugast to make cotton sidewalls water resistant. As an added bonus the sidewalls stay almost as new...

Aquasure can only be if you order or recently have ordered tyres.
The second article had a link to alternatives, I just ordered this:
