Bernal to the TDF, that would be a surprise. If true, I wonder if they bring him as back-up for Froome or if he has to work in the Sky train.

Course actually seems fairly dry on line. Definitely damp patches off line and in the shadows, but despite an occasional spit of moistuer on the camera, those hoping for a wet day to shake things up may be disappointed, and no one's crashed. Having said that, weather may of course get worse, but no indication of it thus far.

Tony Martin just gone fastest so far with a 40:14. If the course keeps drying out likely more riders will push harder in the corners, so times into the low 39s looking possible

Bernal: Maybe not as backup but as replacement in case of ban of froome.

Drizzle now. Umbrellas out. Not wet exactly, but cobbles in the last corner look pretty slick.

Froome looks like he’s slipping off his saddle. Weird.

What underneath the numbers of Yates, is that his race radio? Looks too small for that.

Edit: Nvm, looks like it is his race radio. They finally got rid of those bulky big ones?

Simon needs a decent saddle... And yes it's his radio.

Huge ride by Dennis :D

Congrats to Dennis.

Nowhere near the divergence of time given the relatively straightforward nature of the course and conditions.

It was obviously expected that TT dudes would fair better off overall, but Dumoulin looked like he was working harder than both Dennis and Martin, and not really in the zone (if such a thing can be deduced from watching the television).

Good ride from Yates given his own claim he's crap at TTing. And although I'm a Froome agnositc/skeptic, props to him (is a podium possible?).

Onward.

Ok...

Results are in, Yates kept the maglia rosa.

What options remain from a tactical point of view to rob Yates of the jersey?

Any stages that provide a possibility for a long range surprise attack?

DML should do what contador did , when he couldn't drop purito in the mountains.... try to go in the break and drop him on the flats/false flats.
