Power meters won't change much. Riders know what X watts feels like.

Sky also dont actually have the highest budget. What they can do is get excellent riders who are GT contenders in their own right to ride totally selflessly for someone else. Look at the disaster chez movistar with 3 joint contenders Vs sky, where Kwiat rides so hard he grinds to a halt when he peels off.

Better use of resources.

Why the hell is Nibali having his team help with the pace?
Because Sky were giving the impression that they were totally fine with Valverde riding as far away as he wanted. They don't think he's a threat to Froome for the win, but he may well be a threat to someone else's place on the podium.
Exactly what I was thinking when they went to the front. Also stiffening up the race that point was helpful to put Yates, Fuglsang, Landa on the edge of their seat.

Other takeaway from today is that Lotto had two men at the very end and Roglic seemed pretty comfortable. My theory is that he didn't want to show his cards yet with pulling or attacking. Same might be true for Nibali / Quintana. They are all targeting the podium and playing it safe at this point. Martin went because he needed time. The only riders who were really racing for the win (or went all-in) were Domoulin, Bardet (he towed the whole group to the line), Thomas and Froome. At least IMHO.

Sources ?
On many sources from 2016-2017
https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/raci ... get-262275
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/team-sk ... n-in-2016/
they have approx. 31-35M euros, wich is about double the budget of half of ther other WT teams.
If you account 60% of that budget in rider's salaries,
http://www.satellitesportsnetwork.com/c ... entID=3980
then I wouln't exactly talk about better use of resources, just better resources.

Louis :)

So far not...

But so far we didn't have a team like now SKy having such a huge budget compared to the other teams and dominating these races like this....
It started with Peugeot, then Mapfre it’s always been in cycling

I guess Froome is showing us that this two leader thing isn't real.

DNF for Cav.

Cav was actually "HD" hors-delai, so he did finish but came too late.

Just saw that Bardet (now 2'58 behind Geraint Thomas) admitted that he "made a big mistake today" by not having followed Dan Martin as he attacked and that "his strategy for attacking was maybe not the best today". He also said that he has "to learn to race differently".

Dumoulin said he wanted the stage's victory today.
See why...

G. Thomas winning the TdF and not Froome???

He did his interview after his stage's win and the yellow jersey and he said that "Froome is definitely the leader of the Team" and that "if he is asked to ride for Froome he will definitely do it". (6 years ago we had Froome and Wiggins in a similar situation...and Froome helped Wiggins....)

Sorry to disagree. I am not sure that the budget of Peugeot and Mapfre (?) was like the Team Sky compared to the other teams....
If yes, correct me.

Edit: and now having Wiggins critizing D. Brailsford for his leadership of the Team Sky stating during the Eurosport boradcast that "Brailsford is only behaving according to his own personal interest"...

Thomas vs. Froome in this TdF may eventually be interesting after all....

Fair enough. I was taking it from here

As for the rest. Blimey. My guess is someone got in his face. All is not well in Camp Cav.
