They pay him quite well, then why sideline him just because next year he might earn even more somewhere else?

Happens all the time, world tour points will go to his next team, not the current one.

I am curious to see who will be with Yates in the high mountains, when he'll need them the most, from that squad...Nieve is a possibility and Damien seems another as well...Will that be enough in a heavy controlled race like the TDF?

Are they in danger of losing WT status with the two yates twins??
But for sure it's a good idea to bet on Yates, as his twin was exceptional in the Giro, logically he will do the same in the Tour.

^ speaking of, was it a mistake by Yates to go super deep to win the stage (17/18?) in the Giro? Given the gap he had over Dumoulin, I might have been content to lay back a little and try to save the form for the last stages. My personal experience, which has no bearing on pro racing, is that superb form can be extended by not going too deep when it's not necessary. Extraordinary performances take a heavy toll on the body.

Maybe, but their main concern was to get as much time as possible before the TT and the gap between the two still wasn't that significant despite all those victories. No one knew that Dumoulin would have had a (relatively) off day that day. Hindsight is 20/20. Also, no one knew that Yates would blow up completely and utterly like he did.

That would make for a good race, just Sky riding around France on their own for 3 weeks ;)
That's more or less what the Tour has already been for the last half decade.

Hindsight is 20/20 with form/fatigue.

I don't like very much Froome but the statement of Hinault is just crap. Especially when it's coming from someone who was also not that clean...

This is true, HInault is an old man who has a need for attention.

He also has a cloudy past like everyone who has won the Tour five times!

why doesn't Tejay Van Garderen target the US Nationals? He would smoke all these guys especially in the TT (and already has this year actually, over a minute on Rosskopf & Bookwalter at California).

anyone want to elaborate on any well documented assessments of Hinault's doping or is it just:
1. Everyone else was so he was too.
2. That's the only way you can win multiple Grand Tours
3. We know other people took X so there is no way he couldn't have.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

Probably a pretty safe bet to assume all three. No documentation but I’d say my chances of coming out a winner on that bet are a whole lot better than winning at BlackJack.
