Anyone watch La Course?

Thought AvdB gave the race away with her cornering and line choices in the last couple of kilometers. She wasn't apexing turns or even hugging the barriers on some of the long, sweeping turns. Probably gave away a half dozen seconds there.

BMC won't have anything to do with the team next season

I don't think there's been any formal announcement, but yea, I've heard that BMC will not be involved with them as a bike sponsor next year.

A good article/ interview of Nibali on stage 10 and more.....:

"Nibali: It may seem boring, but that’s modern cycling"

re: bikes. it's a total shot in the dark, but given CCC's boss' ties to Italy, I'd bet on an Italian bike. CCC Conti has been on Guerciotti for years now, the company has introduced some kinda sorta aero bike, so possibly they are preparing to step up. I've no clue how big/small Guerciotti is and how good/bad those bikes are, but I think we can all agree it would be a huge step forward for them

I hope to god that there is some justice done and Froome gets a flat tire just before the second descend or something like that.
I still feel very bad watching him riding there after the salbutamol case.
Facts don't bother you much?

On the actual racing I don't like mountain trains myself. Blame Eddy Merckx.
Bianchi-Campagnolo
The Specialissima
Gylne Gutuer, the UCI 1.2 bike race I invented.

Very good article and I think that having a 'salary cap' would make for better racing. My favourite sports apart from cycling are the NFL and the two rugby codes (Union and League). In England the cap is set for Union and has resulted in fines. In the NRL in Australia it is strictly enforced and has led to big fines and even teams been stripped of championship wins and point deductions. I don't watch Football (soccer) in England, but there are the same teams every year (approx 5 or 6) who can compete and they are the richest. So, there's basically 3 divisions within the Premiership.

Yes. Some people think this is just a recent thing with Sky. Not so. The Merckx train included top riders such as Van Springel, Swerts, Bruyere. Then there was Hinault. After that Indurain and Banesto. Then Armstrong. It's been continuous. Now Sky although their budget is mind boggling.

Double the amount Salbutalmol: fact!
Sky did not reproduce this result to prove that it was possible: fact!
Other riders have been banned for less: fact!
WADA and UCI cleared him without any explanation 24 hours after ASO banned Froome from the tour: fact!

And than all the other things at Sky that are maybe not real facts, but highly suspicious like TUE's, jiffy bags, lost laptop with all medical files (NEVER stored only on one laptop in a professional organisation like Sky)

So yes, facts do bother me.....

Actually the amount was re-calibrated to account for his state of dehydration (as per WADA guidelines) to 1200 and was not the 2000 as originally leaked.

remember when USPS bought Heras, or Savoldelli? many branded it "unfair" advantage.

today, USPS has been replaced by SKY, but there are more differences beyond just dominating the Tour. SKY's an all year outfit, Froome's crucial domestiques race almost whole year round - just like Froome himself. that's probably the most starking contrast - both teams focused on one rider, but the spectrum of their focus is totally different (a LOT wider in case of SKY).

both leaders have a one clear goal - the Tour, but while Lance hardly races before and after TdF, Froome not only does but also wins - snatching both Giro and Vuelta in the process. both teams lure best riders to help the leader, but those "domestiques" are also on way different programmes - Kwiato and Thomas win big time, then go all in during Tour, then go and race again. there's a whole bunch of "2nd tier" domestiques scoring wins throughout the season as well. out of Lance's "lieutenants", only forementioned Savoldelli and Heras were allowed to race a GT for themselves, and without any support - of course both of them won a GT each. Hincapie did some classics, some minor one-weeker or a stage once a year, but that's about it. as for leaders - again, SKY's set up to deliver for Froome whenever he feels like winning - Romandie, Giro, Dauphine, Tour, Vuelta... the train is there, no biggie. Lance had his doing just one race per year.

the more I think about it, the less "unusual" Armstrong's domination appears - so he had some of the best riders whose main job was to be on form for three weeks a year. well, tough job - try to stretch that into almost an entire season. THAT's domination. and I'm with Nibali on this one - we've arrived at the point where salary caps are necessary to tame SKY's inclinations, as it appears almost threatening to whole pro cycling scene. imagine you want to sponsor a WT team and have like 10 large per year to spend. or 20 - approx an average WT team budget. but that still won't cut it, and you know you'll be left with crumbs. not the "we take the Tour but you can still race for every other event". nope, more like "we take the Tour, Giro and Vuelta. Dauphine, Romandie an P-N are also on our lists, we'll probably hit Alps, Burgos and Trentino. and most of the classics. fancy a ToC or Race of Norway? oh, wait..."
