Interesting fact is that the Giro was harder then the Tour.

That fits with previous analysis during the Tour, and was probably the reason that Geraint Thomas was able to win. Froome and Dumoulin were fatigued and the other contenders weren't in great form.

Not to take anything away from Thomas's win, you can only race the guys who are on the start line and Thomas proved he was best for those three weeks in July.

Bikes like that tend to look strange without a rider on them. If the rider's not a blob they look just fine ridden.
But why is this in the Pro thread?

such 'analysys' don't make any sense given he "lost" the Tour due to that flat tire before Mur du Bretagne. if he hadn't punctured one could conclude losing weight only helped him win the race lol

Mollard is the only domestique, the others are usually leaders or freelancers :
Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step) ; Romain Bardet, Tony Gallopin, Alexandre Geniez (AG2R La Mondiale) ; Thibaut Pinot, Rudy Molard, Anthony Roux (Groupama-FDJ) ; Warren Barguil (Fortuneo-Samsic)

Guimard's usual strategy is to always have a guy in the break, rather than having a team working together for a leader.
It doesn't work when the guy is weaker than his companions (like Perrichon in the european championship).

Aru has thrown the towell, the Italian team looks more balanced than the french :
Gianluca Brambilla, Damiano Caruso, Dario Cataldo, Alessandro De Marchi, Gianni Moscon, Vincenzo Nibali, Franco Pellizzotti, Domenico Pozzovivo

It's more fatigued then lose of power I think. In the article, they say he lost more fat, not power. And as Froome came in 3rd behind him and he has done a double before, I think it's safe to say that fatigued player a bigger role then lose of power, else Froome would have outperformed Dumoulin.
The Mur changed a lot indeed. It changed the entire tactics of the race after that all Thomas had to do (and did) was jump on Dumoulin's wheel when he attacked and then sprinted for the victory or boni seconds on the last k/500m of a climb. Without that time lost Dumoulin could have played a more tactical game as well.

2019 Giro TT routes look to favour the TD/Froome type over Kung types with those climbing finishes. Quintana will likely lose 2mins...

Quite a few integrated TT bikes come with the potential to stack 10cm of spacers out of the box, which looks in the ballpark for that setup. Does seem to be taking big rider, tiny bike to the extreme though!
