I led a ride a gravel/CX ride for the cycling club this morning, it's not a regular thing but 8 people came out. Stunning autumn day.

This is a steep uphill after an unsighted steep downhill.

There's not really much 'gravel' to ride in Southern England but there are plenty of bridleways and such.

Muddy but not that muddy. I've been riding this bike since May and with the dry summer, this is about the first time it has been dirty.

I guess, this was the last ride over a real pass this year. I'm looking forward for the next spring ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Gorgeous day and not super hot for a change. Head wind half the ride but loved that tailwind on the way back home!!

All beach entrances for miles on end leading to endless miles of deserted beaches. I think the sign says it all!!!

Chur.

Yup, very close to central Welly. It's Takarau Gorge which is part of the popular Makara loop.

It was fun, thanks, a lot of fun. One learning for me is that the potential for faffing about on a group off-road ride is even greater than the same on-road. What with regrouping, and looking for people who'd dropped off, and fixing punctures, the time really drained away. I had to make a dash for home eventually to be not back too late, family stuff, and missed out on a much-needed cafe stop. Next time: fewer km and a definite cafe stop.

On the Mtb for a change.... ready to race the sled dog down the hill :)

We took the ferry across to Diamond Harbour which gave us a great view of the Evans Pass road that is nearly ready to re-open after years of repairs from the 2011 earthquakes. Pretty excited about this one, will close a loop and hopefully nice smooth tarmac (in contrast to the rest of our earthquake and repair ravaged roads):
