Thanks lacoon, in my mind's eye it was the Rhone glacier, but digging out the old 1987 photo, it's a very similar view with similar mountains behind, but my photo was taken from below Gletsch, much farther away, and as you say, the Rhone is waaaay bigger. And of course in my photo there's a road and hotel next to the glacier in the distance. (Ha, I honestly never even noticed that the Belverde Hotel was in my picture until now). Thanks for the great photos and for bringing back memories. We crossed the Grimsel, fully loaded for touring, at 5pm way back when, because the campground on the map at Gletsch no longer existed and the hotel in Gletsch was $150. Off over that little hill to the next campground! Your ride (Strava) looks truly monstrous. Holy expletive.

Just as I return from a bike trip I see lacoon has ridden some of the same roads and posted his beautiful pics. Anyway.
I'll do one pass per day, in sequence ridden.

Thanks. Mostly the Zeiss optics/chip on the camera can handle it, but I also underexpose a little and then pull out the detail in PS

My first ride after a rainy winter, nice to be out riding. (I have been trail running to stay fit). Eden forest outside Stellenbosch.
