A house who every cyclist of the world knows. The hotel belvedere at the Furkapass. But at night you'll find many pics

I took another way back home yesterday evening. Cool to ride over the passes at night. ImageImageImageImage

Day 4 of my France Cols tour was Mont Ventoux. Weather was very kind being warm, with light winds, although still cloudy at altitude. Mont Ventoux turns out to be an absolute mecca for road cyclists and even midweek in June there were many, many cyclists, not a few of the older ones on electric bikes. There are photographers permanently stationed to get snaps of everyone, they give you a card as you go past and you can find the photo online later.

Pre-ride faffing.

I'll continue as I know you're all enjoying these. Day 5 of the 10cols18 France trip was a tough stage from Briancon to Oz, near Allemond. We were in the Alps and finally had clear skies.

The Lauteret is a long steady climb with the Galibier massif always in view ahead.
Image

Talk about timing, we were going to do the Galibier on the morning of the very day - 8 June - that it was officially opened after a long snow-clearing effort.

This route could be testing - shape of the final km.

On top of the world!

I cracked big-time on the ascent of the Croix de Fer from St Jean du Maurienne - what a climb. And whereas the Galbier had been busy with cyclists and other traffic, the CdF was nearly deserted.

Nice shots Miller, love the one at the top of the CdF - the clouds really make it look very atmospheric :)
