Regarding the Landa/Moviestar stuff... With so few KM's of TT'ing at this years Tour, it's the best chance that Quintana has had, so he deserves that opportunity. I think the approach should be that Valverde and Landa go to the Giro as co-leaders. Then Valverde, heads to the Tour to help Quintana, and will then get some rest before his targeting of the World Championships. This would mean that Landa gets sole leadership at the Vuelta. This doesn't appear to be Valverde's desire though, with him mentioning that he wants to skip the crowded Tour, and ride the Giro and Vuelta. So the best bet might be for Landa to suck it up one more year, earn his new team-mates loyalty and respect, and give it a full run in 2019.

Landa made a mess with his choises...he wants to be a leader, said he left sky because he didn't want to sacrifice his chances for someone else again, and the goes to movistar, where the same excact thing is bound to happen!!!! considering how many teams where looking for a GC leader this year, he chose poorly!
If he moved to Movistar Im sure he spoke to Unzue beforehand to clear his duties, and according to his interview in the spanish media he already done that by saying Unzue will take care of each one position.
Agree, Unzue is a schrewd operator. Quintana is still an unknown, he seemed like an immense talent in 2013-2015 but has faded somewhat, he also seemed to rely heavily on Valverde for his tactical awareness. Landa is just another card for Unzue to play should Quintana continue to fade.
IMHO Unzue sees Quinatana's following Ullrich's footsteps so to speak - being always 2nd. he has no chances vs. Froome, he lost to Big Tom - and it looks as he's stuck. of course being 2nd is still huge, but inability to engage in a fight for 1st clearly isn't. Landa on the other hand has showed the panache, proved he can fight for it and that's something Quintana lacks. the fact Landa's Spanish helps the team too, so even if it turns into internal competiotion, it's Quintana who's gonna have problems.

It was a criterium, run according to these ancient "rules":
Of course Froome is supposed to win an ASO-organized crit in China with riders from TdF in it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CriteriumIt was a long tradition that after the Tour these criteriums were fixed to have favourable results for local favorites, who may be participating for show after having ridden in a larger race such as the Tour de France.

That's the crit life. At least those like Kjetil said post TDF crits, and this one isn't post tour but as it's an ASO show event you can call it one.
Why did Cink retire?

It's not a real bike race. Froome winning a crit is hilarious. Wonder what the appearance fees are like.
Love the Landa Movidrama. Interesting to see if Nairo can get back to this best and if Valv can come back at 38...

That's just what it is. It can't be fixed if it's not intended to be a competitive event in the first place. Like a tennis exhibition match. Or pro wrestling.
