Feared the worst for Zakarin.. As he wasn't moving.. Lucky to walk away with a snapped collarbone.

btw I'm really really surprised by Ulissi 4th place finish on that stage. I know he can climb but to be up there with the real climbing specialists, that is something isnt it?

With that uphill start we'll know pretty soon how he is as I expect Nibs will put his troops on the front to drive the pace and potentially shake out contenders.

I think he will be, came from nowhere and won't get there again.

Depends what your definition of 'nowhere' is.

Anyway. This Giro has been great. Kruijswijk has been great, even if he doesn't win, his fall yesterday will be remembered in the history of the Giro for a long long time. And he is a WW (at least compared to some other guys hitting the mountain TT without bikes close to 6.8): http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/steven- ... e-gallery/

Read the Bicycling Mag Lachlan Morton interview on the shitter yesterday. Was surprised to read that he takes training with power fairly seriously and has a coach. I wish there were more details on precisely what it was that didn't work out for him that is "standard" as I thought hat right there would be it.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

I am not feeling the resurrection like recovery of NIbali, like the commentators on Eurosport put it.

Hope Chavez recovers enough to not lose the jersey.

So much Giro drama. I'm happy that Nibali came back, but maybe there was just too much hype around his few bad days last week.

There's the argument that he's been riding the last couple of days at what's been his expected level though. He's been poor earlier in the Giro, but it's not like he's done a Bernhard Kohl or anything similar.

The last two days where like a story from neverland.
As much as I like glorious victories I have a really hard time believing that a rider that breaks again and again without showing any sign of improvement still is able to
have two near perfect days in the end........ (not saying that he's at the same levell off the Nibali of a few years ago, but again way better than is to be expected within reason....)

Couldn't agree more.

Also agree. This WW is so highly suspicious of anything Vino is involved with, he has no credibility with me. Maybe years from now, someone on Astana will confess as to just what occurred this past Thursday.

Having done a fair bit of racing myself (although never anything close to a GC) I have had a handful of absolutely terrible periods that suddenly turned extremely good. The human body is weird sometimes. At least for me this is less suspicious than a lot of the stuff we have seen before from others. That of course doesn't mean that I don't think it's a possibility, but I'm not going to scream "doping" because he turned around a poor performance against riders that usually aren't near his level.

really..nibali has never been associated with any scandals..

he has always been able to rebound from bad days. that sicilian anger can give him the extra edge. last year he won a tour stage after collapsing early in the race. won lombardy after the embarrassment getting kicked out of the vuelta.

one more point. without scarponi/astana strategy he would not have won pink
