Although he has admitted that he blood-doped, it now turns out that Tyler's "phantom twin" defense wasn't as BS as we all assumed. It turns out having multiple blood types and different DNA within the same body is more common than scientists realized:

Who knew? :noidea:

The article is on genetic variation within same body of individual.
Biological passport doesnt test for this. Phantom twin may produce anomalous blood readings in variety of tests.

Tyler's Phanton Twin was later removed. Its now sittings in a jar somewhere.

Wasn't the phantom twin thing only some of the many things in a list Tyler's lawyers meant would make the tests show wrong results? They only tried to question the credibility of the tests. I don't think they ever stated specifically that he was chimeric.

That article blows me away. “It’s pretty likely that any woman who has been pregnant is a chimera” - yikes. "male cells can also infiltrate breast tissue" - as often as possible! :)

it's an eye opener alright. i have a friend who's dean of a medical school: he knew about mosaicism, but even he wasn't aware of how extensive the multiple DNA phenomenon is.
