I'm not sure that Christine Sinclair fully embodies what I want from an "Athlete of the Year". Yes she had a phenomenal Olympics, but she also put me off with her bad sportsmanship after the loss to the USA in the semifinals. Yes, the officiating was not neutral but IMO her comments and her pouty behaviour do not warrant AotY status. And interestingly she was completely passed over in the FIFA Player of the Year nominations, no doubt in relation to her tirade.

Ryder got my vote obviously, but Sinclair would not even be my 2nd choice.
