Recommend me some winter shoes/boots
I've currently got a pair of Northwave Celsius Gotetex boots for winter riding. They've been good for keeping my feet warm and dry but I can't get the cleats far enough back to match my road shoes which is throwing my fit out.
Currently looking at the fizik tempo artica r5 gtx or lake cx146 wide. Anyone got any experience with either or have any other good recommendations?
I'm a 45EU and trying not to have to size up which will place the cleat position further forward. Requirements are warm, waterproof and not narrow fitting.
Cheers

That’s the best option!
I’ve got summer lakes in size 45 but winter ones 47.

The boots turned up today.
Fizik – decent looking but too narrow. Going to a 46 could help so may try that.
Lake – I referred to their sizing charts, measured my feet and bought the 46 in normal width accordingly. The toe box isn't roomy enough at all so think I'd need to try the wides for them to fit. Possibly even go to a 47. Not that keen on the style in real life though so striking those off the list.
Will keep searching...

Super interested in this thread...I can keep my body and even hands warm but feet/toes end up forcing me inside.
I haven't given in to winter boots yet but have spent a small fortune on various shoe covers, socks, insoles etc. but no luck. I may have to go the proper winter boot route...

I have Northwave goretex. They do a great job at keeping your feet warm. The downside is that the ankle part is really loose, which means your bib tights have to go inside them. This means if it rains or there are puddle splashes, water can easily get in. This section should be way tighter to the leg.
If you don't want to ride in boots, try this:MarkoP wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:48 pmSuper interested in this thread...I can keep my body and even hands warm but feet/toes end up forcing me inside.

The air pillow insoles go under your footbeds for added insulation between you and the sole of your shoe, a significant point of heat loss, (you might need a slightly bigger shoes for winter use).
The toe warmers are good for about 3 hours, not six as advertised, (they go on top of your toes, not under). And any super heavy duty winter shoe cover on top will do the job, but heavy neoprene really protects from cold. I like the Velotoze brand neoprene because it doesn't absorb water.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I have the warmers and spatz pro overshoes but I'll definitely try out those insoles (or something similar).
