Spring cap/hat that covers your ears FULLY

Hey, I finally found a really good wintercap, that fully covers my ears while riding. I repeat "fully cover ears", because that's the only good ear protection from the wind. If your cap covers your ear only from 50-80%, your ear is going to suffer all the air turbolence, maybe even more that without ear covers.

It is a gripGrab aviator. It's amazing. But it is from fleece, hence pretty hot for temperature above 5C.

Do you you know something similar for spring?

Gore wear has two quite similar beanies: one for the milder temperatures and another for real winter temperatures.

I have used the thermo version and that would definitely be too warm for above zero temperatures. If I am correct the top part of the lighter version is not wind proof, so it is more breathable.

Rapha has a windstopper hat too: no experience of that one.

As only the front part of the hat is wind proof, it is not too hot even when the temps are above zero.

I do have the Rapha Peaked Cap (the last one linked) and I find it comfy and warm, but it covers 85% of my ears.. so during colder days I had to add another layer to it

I'm a fan of bandanas/headbands. You can always cover your ears and unless it's really cold they're usually better at temperature regulation over hats by keeping the top of your head open.

I wear that along with a mock turtle base layer. Pull up with the neck portion over the lower portion of ears and use cap to cover rest. I find this more versatile if I get too warm or need venting.

I have the Rapha Deep Winter base layer which should do the trick, I tried to pull up over such space, but it didn’t stay up the whole ride and I had to adjust it, maybe I move my head around a lot or I didn’t pull it up correctly..

Maybe use a neck gaitor instead with the 3/4 cap. I normally pull the neck portion up where I need cover, put the cap on and then the helmet w mouth straps. Seems to hold fairly well for even a 35-40 mi ride.

When its cold...I wear Gore-Tex!

But I really need just hat, especially because i don't like anything that pushes on my chin or jaw

Thermal headbands all the way. Many different makers. I have Castelli and Ale. I add a peaked summer cap (not cotton) for extra warmth if necessary. I can remove one or the other as temperatures rise and fall. Take up zero room in the pocket. If it's really cold I go to full balaclava.

Difesa2 is a nice cap for milder temperatures during the spring and fall and it is quite rain proof too. However the seams are quite bulky and can be very annoying under the helmet, so if you are sensitive to helmet hotspots difesa2 is not the best option.
