Assos Dermasensor Base Layers worth the cost?
While I love Assos bibs and they most likely will be the only bi's I ever use ...https://www.q36-5.com/en-us/
Base layers are the best there is a q36-5 thread someplace here and I am not the only one who thinks the fabric they use is made by wizzards... it's seriously magic... works when it's wet dry extra fast the wides temperature range I basically use thier Base Layer 2 year round in NorCal and when it get hot a few times a year I wear Base Layer 0... they also are made on a special machine so the are are only two seams on the shoulders, they are really more like socks for uper body then a "standard base layer" ... I was a wool base layer guy years ago and when q36-5 started I saw that the design is very very different than anything else I gave it a try : )
I don't think any one will be sorry giving them a try ( I would wait for a sale as they are big $$$ even compared to Assos)

What has Assos done with the blue Ultraz base layer? Sigma Sports listed the new version—the Ultraz Winter Long Sleeve Base Layer P1—ahead of its appearance elsewhere. What's going on with the black-coloured neck? Is it styling or a new material? I loved the previous Ultraz, and its (blue) collar was perfect: not too low for winter, yet not too high.
I may be the opposite: likely, Q36.5 Grid Skin bibs and tights are the only ones I'll buy. But I haven't tried their base layers, as they appear similar to the Assos Dermasensor, which I found disappointing and eventually sold. I wonder if the Q36.5 base layers are better than Assos's disatisfactory Dermasensoruraqt wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:31 amWhile I love Assos bibs and they most likely will be the only bi's I ever use ...https://www.q36-5.com/en-us/

it's way better and you can tell from the pixs.... the Q36.5 only has two seams ... it's make like a sock and it's knitted with different patterns in different locations I am sure that they are one of a kind and that isn't even talking about the magic fabric that is way better than anything else ... I only wear Q36.5 jerseys and base layers and it's very clear that they are using fabrics that no one else does just like the Grid Skin stuff... I have a back stock of Asso bibs that were cheap and Q36.5 bibbs are just too small for my fat butt : )Britishedgehog wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 3:13 pmWhat has Assos done with the blue Ultraz base layer? What a timely reply! Today, I wondered how the Q36.5 Base Layer 4 Plus would compare to my Assos Ultraz base layer. The blue Ultraz base layer is one of my all-time favourite pieces of clothing. However, I still got cold wearing it this week.uraqt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:44 amthe Q36.5 only has two seams ... it's make like a sock and it's knitted with different patterns in different locations I am sure that they are one of a kind and that isn't even talking about the magic fabric that is way better than anything else ... A warm mid-layer would help, but I have little room between my jacket and base layer, so I either need an even warmer base layer or a thin but warm mid-layer.
Café du Cycliste’s new Carmen base layer looks promising, too.
However, these base layers are extremely expensive for trial and error!
Sorry all to all those wool lovers out there, it's just not as good as the magic Q365 fabric. Q365 has a bigger temperature range, drys faster, less seams, and better fitting. I was one the the 1st people to use the new gen wool like swobo, rapha and smartwool... I still have 1st gen swobo and rapha and will use them as a bulk middle layer when it's below freezing. However sounding like a broken record the Q365 Base Layers are at a whole new level, game changing.... They are using fabrics and material like no one else!!!

Riding in mediterranic weather, I'm a convert on the Q36.5 baselayer 3. With a long sleeve jersey or hybrid jersey I'm good in Fall/Winter. Cannot speak about the base layer 4/5 but I would give them a lookuraqt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 8:19 amSorry all to all those wool lovers out there, it's just not as good as the magic Q365 fabric. Agreed. Unbelievable temp regulation. I have 2 and wish I had 10.uraqt wrote:Sorry all to all those wool lovers out there, it's just not as good as the magic Q365 fabric.
