Hi there. I currently use Ashima ARO-09 rotors on my road bike and MTB. My road bike uses TRP Spyre SLC calipers and the MTB has MT500s. Both are compatible with Shimano B05S pads.

I recently replaced the pads on my road bike and noticed some odd uneven wear on the pads. The pads were rather "wavy" shaped. Curious I went and had a look at my rotor and to my horror I saw my pads has been chewing up the rotor spider.

I'm going to replace the rotors as soon as possible. But that led me down the rabbit hole. I had 0 idea that some disk rotors had a narrower breaking surface than other rotors. I just assumed all rotors adhered to some industry standard. I mean why else would there be so many third party rotor options. Very few brands list the width of the brake "track" on the marketing page of their rotors. Something like this could lead to a catastrophic accident if people aren't aware of this.

Now back to the question at hand. I went down the rabbit hole and was thinking of replacing my Ashimas with Galfer Waves accross all my bikes. Galfer says the brake "track" on their rotors is 15mm. The friction surface of the Shimano B05S pad is 16mm wide. I don't want to chew into my Galfers when I get them. So does anyone know of any pads regardless of manufacturer that has a "narrow" (~14ish mm) friction surface that are compatible with MT500 calipers?

Otherwise I will have to start shaving my brake pads in the future. :unbelievable:
