I just build a super light city bike for my mom as her birthday gift. It is a good bike for commuting. She Hates any electonic device on bike, so I choice all mechanical component.

Note: This bike rear rack is not compatible with other universal rack. Try to buy a seat clamp with rack mount like M-Wave or Electra or Bontrager or Salsa Rack Lock.

If you want to find another non-ebike step through frame with thru axle. Rose Sneak Midstep is the only choice. But it is fully cable routing. So you'd better use electric shifter on that frame.

I'm impressed with the choice of 26" wheelset.
Not everyone has the balls to do this. It's light!
I thought I was doing well with my lightweight 26er wheelset.

Although you can drop more weight when the tyres wear out by going to Conti Grand Prix 1.1
250 grams each — they're almost like road tyres really.
Then you can use 650c tubes at only ~70 grams each (I like Michelin Air comps)
That would potentially drop another 130grams off.
You can also get grand prix supersonic innertubes at around 50 grams each but it is not recommended for a commuter bike, plus they are expensive and even more hard to get, but price does not seem to be the limiting factor here.

Oh, and I would not leave this bike unattended anywhere outside. Even locked up.

What's the bottlecage in pic #3? Does it work allright?

This is very motivating. My first 'proper' bike was a Cube Attain endurance bike and it's very heavy (9.8kg). While I've relegated it to Winter bike territory, I hadn't thought about improving it but your post has motivated me to think about doing so.

Your mums bike is lighter than any bike I've ever had awesome build love this!

Is that measured with the basket and kickstand?
