Roval CLX 50 first gen has the spoke noise caused by spokes touching each other (straight pull but not interlaced). My AR45 with i9 Torch classic has j-bend spokes and interlaced, no noise.

I think there are many factors for interlaced spokes causing noise. One might be round vs. bladed spokes. Spoke tension (loose spokes will move more), load, spoke count, etc all are contributing factors. But I think there are practically no downsides to non-interlacing. I might have to rebuild one wheel which is causing me great grief.

I think that this is the option to go, I agree with you but I need the specs to create my own one. Does anyone know the spoke hole diameter of DT Swiss 240 exp straight pull hubs? I cannot find anything in the official documentation

I want to use ti spokes that are oversized and I needed to verify

Problem is that no real conversion chart for many spokes like Sapim CX Ray.
Solution, create your own using a calibration tool but this requires to create the calibration tool. I am very annoyed with this. Do you have any solution?
I just built one, based on pictures I had seen.
Happy to post a parts list if you want to make one.
If you buy the aluminium tapped and cut to length online, you only need to drill two holes yourself.

I am planning a weight weenie road bike climbing wheelset build at the moment.
I love alpine climbing and am booked on the BOC Dolomites Escape this September.
I am 75kg right now. But it's time to lose that 5kg I put on over winter
I own decent aero wheels, but nothing lightweight. I like building wheels... so why not!
I have pretty much decided on rims (LB AR25) and spokes (CX Ray), (though happy to take advice), but am quite undecided about the hubs. I'll be using an XDR freehub.
Hoping for some sage advice/pointers...

NonPlus Road Hub Rear Spoke Calculations
(I'll confirm spoke lengths with LB before ordering, since ERD measurement varies. These calcs are just to see tension ratio really.)

- - The weights are very similar.
- - The prices are very similar.
- - Looking at the flange offsets, the NonPlus hub has the worst tension ratio by far. The 2.1mm offset AR25 rim helps a little, but even so. If I build with the HyperSmart with this offset rim, I can get a tension ratio of 81%!
- - The CyberRear has a limit of 1:1 gear ratio, which isn't great, as I have a 30/36 on one of my bikes and I'm not getting any younger! Or lighter!
- - Both ExtraLite hubs have frequent service intervals. I am unsure of how reliable a NonPlus hub is or how much maintenance it needs.
- - NonPlus is Centerlock, Extralites are not. Extralites will ultimately be relatively lighter because of the lighter 6 bolt rotors.
Any other hubs worth considering?

There was a miscommunication with Panda Podium and I've found myself with a brand new CRW CS series 50mm front rim. Is this a product that you can build a wheel out of, or is the 16 spoke hole (made for carbon spokes) not suitable for any type of building except for the spokes/hubs that CRW includes?
If this is rim brake then 16 steel spokes is ok. If it’s disk brake then it needs carbon spokes. But finding a hub for 16 spokes will be hard. You could use a hub with 32h and use just half of the holes. That will work.
