Looking at building carbon rim brake wheels and these new Nextie RX rims look interesting as have not come across many that compare for weight
https://www.nextie.com/road-RX-series
Also thinking of h-works for the hubs which I only came across today
https://www.h-works.cn/collections/hubs ... %7EV-Brake
Anyone have any experience with either?

What are you building them for? Those weights are good but they are very narrow.

Which is why I asked what they are being built for.bobones wrote:They're standard width for rim brake rims and perfect for 25mm tyres. If you''re building light wheels with light rims, why put on heavier tyres than you need?

yeah.
What bike are you using them on, what size tires do you want to run, what is approximate rider weight range, and what are you trying to optimize for aero, crr, comfort, crosswind stability?
From that info determine a rim depth, inner & out width, and only then start optimizing for weight spoke type hubs etc.

Yeah, but for rim brakes they're far from "very narrow".wheelbuilder wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 11:39 pmWhich is why I asked what they are being built for.bobones wrote:They're standard width for rim brake rims and perfect for 25mm tyres. What seems to be missing is the info about the width of the rim at the widest point. They appear to be fatter in the middle in displayed profiles. Maybe they bulge out to 28mm+?
Curious - what don't you like about them?

Didn't expect so many replies. Bike is a 2002 Lemond Tete de Course running 10 speed Campagnolo Record and skeleton brakes. So restricted by what I can fit and looking for something with grooved brake track and lighter weight than my current shamal ultra.
I love this bike and would struggle to get something more modern to replace it hence keeping it going for as long as I can with wheels being the only further area to upgrade without replacing groupset to gain some extra gears.

I still have yellow veloflex black tyres max width 25mm and some old corsa cx with yellow stripe in 23mm. Probably would also try Pirelli P Zero Race in either 26mm or 28mm clearance allowing. Bike has yellow accent theme from the original decals and bar tape, saddle, lever hoods.
