Farsports customer sales provides a very good experience. They do the effort to understand your needs and explore the available options, provide you the information and details without pressuring you to buy any specific product.StephenDone wrote:I've never used WheelsFar to order custom Far Sports wheels before, but I had heard it mentioned several times. This thread was the final straw, as I had seen the GC Performance Review, along with the wheel price, and once again I heard I could get the same for much less! So I had a browse. I couldn't quite find what I was looking for, so I registered on the web site, as I thought that might give me access to additional pages etc. It didn't, but within a few hours I got an email from someone called Emma at FarSports, asking if I had found what I needed. I was just browsing really, but I thought 'what the heck' and specced out what I was after, since she had asked! I emailed over my requirements (I actually wanted a wide rear gravel rim too) and got back two examples configs with prices. I had forgotten to mention I wanted XDR hubs, mailed that back, hopped in the shower and by the time I got out, I had another reply. I have gone back and forth a few times to tweak the spec. I was dead impressed with the customer service. So much so that I'm about to place an order. I am really just posting this to say that if you've been wondering about buying a custom Chinese wheelset, I would certainly give them a go - I was very pleasantly surprised. I've put the two quotes I was given below. As toxin said, you could get similar wheels for cheaper. Alternatively, you could get higher spec wheels for the same price. It certainly opened my eyes to some extra options!
I've been researching for several weeks, trying to find the ideal wheelset to run a pair of 32mm GP5000S TR tyres. Admittedly, 28mm internal width on these rims is a bit more than I would have liked. I would have been happier with 24/25mm. But I really wanted a 34mm external rim width that would match up nicely with the 32mm tyres. So whilst these wheels aren't my perfect build, they are the best I can find right now. I guess with the market moving to wider tyres, more options will be coming along soon. But anyway, that's my reason for my rim choice.

Thanks for your reply.
It's ok to choose FS45/34GH-700C rims to built with extralite cyber SPD3 hub with round carbon spokes ,the weight 1210g/set/+/-30g ,the price US$1440 .

Now No.6 do have something fun. The parts are still all farsports and the rims are the same old same old, but:
They are using Farsports' new 5 mm wide t-head spokes and an H-Works hub that looks like they mixed design aspects of their old SR270 hub with the newer SR288 and machined an extra diagonal slot to fit the spoke through, like the S series hubs.
Weight seems about the same and somebody on the forum has been talking to FS about buying spokes and they were offered the 5mm spokes so you could probably get this setup from Farsports now too.

It would be really interesting to see what custom wheels get built using these new 5mm spokes and revised hubs. I didn't get offered these options, but maybe I would have done if I'd asked specifically.

I finally found the specs of the hubs. Strangely sr288 gets no Google search matches even though they are listed here:
https://www.h-works.cn/collections/hubs
So what is the difference between sr270 and 288? I saw the 270 was slightly lighter. Is it a revision for T-Head spokes?

I agree, a 25mm internal is better for a 32mm tyre.
32mm GP5000S TR on a 25 internal wheel measures 33.5mm
32mm GP5000S TR on a 28 internal wheel will measure 34.7mm
But I really wanted a 34mm external rim width that would match up nicely with the 32mm tyres. So whilst these wheels aren't my perfect build, they are the best I can find right now.
A 25 internal with a 34 external is a better match. Have a look at the NVISAGE AR45: 34 wide, 45 deep, 25 internal.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a small Australian company. I wonder where they get their wheel parts. AR45 sounds very 'LightBicycle'!
That would indeed have been my ideal rim proportions.
Here's the link again - it had an extra '=' on the end...

For those (like me) who consider the 28mm IW of the 45-50 set not useable, you can also have a look at their 50/58 sett. 24 mm IW front and rear and 31.5 EW front and rear.
Weight is surprisingly close to the 45-50 set at 1280 grams.
