Did Tadej just switch from conti to Pirelli?! At least this is what is mounted on his special WC edition bike.

Colnago and Pirelli have a supplier deal, so I think that's why consumer bikes are equipped that way.

In the WC's, Pog had GP5k TT's. Interestingly, he had a stock Dura Ace crankset not the Carbon-Ti (at least in pre-race setup). Not sure what he ran in the actual race.

UAE was sponsored by Pirelli in '22 and '23, I believe.

These results are basically within margin of error and given the major differences in construction between the GP5K TT TR and S TR plus the previous test results from this facility, I have serious doubts about their protocol(s.)
Not to mention this part showing 35% more RR for the RS.

GP5k S TR:
- Power at 9m/s: 10W
- Power at 11m/s: 16W

P0 RS:
- Power at 9m/s: 13.5W
- Power at 11m/s: 19.4W

On its own, I'd have no reason to dispute those numbers, but here is the BikeRadar test showing the GP5K S TR around 14W@8.33m/s and the P Zero Race TLR at 11.9W. The absolute values won't translate across the two publication's tests, but the rank order should stay roughly the same.
So one test says RS is 30% slower than S TR one says even the non-RS is 15% faster, and one says they're the same (BRR).

I feel like I trust BRR the most; they've been doing the testing the longest AFAIK, and presumably have been able to adjust their testing to be more accurate over time. Their results between the old Race TLR and new Race TLR RS seem to align pretty closely to Pirelli's own claimed RR improvements.

Ordered two sets (28mm and 30mm).
30mm for new BlackInc wheels - possible but painful to mount
28mm for Enve Foundation 45 - no way to get them on. Hair dryer to warm them up, soap warter, tire leavers. No chance. Have to return them and get an other pair of tires.

I had to have a friend help me get the 28mm on his Enve Foundation 65mm, I was holding both sides of the bead while he used a lever to get it on. It worked, but could be problematic if you need to throw in a tube on the side of the road. I don't know if the wheels being narrower than most modern ones is a factor

OK, this is disturbing. So the RS is super tight fitting? Some reviews say they are not too tough to install. I was just about to pull the trigger on a few, and while I have skills and tools to get them on in my shop, no way would I take a chance of not being able to get a tube in on the road. I need to be 100% self sufficient in the middle of nowhere.

@cleanneon, is your friend free during the month of September? I have a bike trip planned and I figure as long as he is there to help with my tires I should be good. Hope he likes climbing. :noidea:

Any ride reports?

I think it depends on the wheels. Of the installs I've done I feel like narrower rims are harder to mount to but maybe just anecdotal. I'm on RSL51 with a 23mm IW and I was able to mount them solo without much fuss.

I've got 1250 miles on mine, front tire still shows the center mould line. Rear had one puncture that sealed quickly with minimal pressure loss. I feel like they're smoother than the 5000, feel fast, I can't feel the added weight but my bike is also 8kg with pedals and all so it's a drop in the bucket

Pirelli is teasing tan RS tires to launch today!

Hopefully (1) they offer them in the bigger sizes and (2) it doesn't affect RR.

Since GP5k tan walls are 20% slower than black, but for Pro One there is no tan-penalty, I'd like to see BRR test a tan Pirelli for comparison (and black Power Cup).

Both retro and classic available in all sizes!

Has someone seen classic in person? Does it look like a cotton color or more lighter/white? I'm not a big fan of brown sidewalls but love the color of Corsa Pro and Power Cup

Ugh I'm a sucker for that Retro color, always loved the "cream" colorway on the GP5000 but it was clincher only (no TLR) and this looks so similar. The Classic looks kinda like the S TR Transparent did after a few months, which was disappointing because the color really changed from when they were new.

I'll also be curious how those discolor, buddy of mine has not had great luck with that color and said it stained pretty badly, and more-so on the back from drivetrain/wax

Was his experience with the P Zero? Power Cup seem to keep their color much better than the AS TR

Older Corsa I believe. I wasn't crazy about my transparent S TR when new and they really got ugly after a while not even from the drivetrain but the front and back both went from this golden shiny color to a dark brown

Both of those have completely different sidewall construction from the P Zero. They are basically exposed fabric.

If the P Zero is like the Power Cup, then it won't stain like those two.

My cream AS TRs stained orangey brown very quickly, but the Corsa Pros and Power Cups have kept their original colour.

How would you rate them vs gp price wise and durability? I can pick gp 5000 s tr for 40€/piece and these for 60-65€/piece so its kinda hard decision to buy them since i can get conti for cheaper.
