Looks good actually although as mentioned by Jarno it's actually more of a high end traning tyre that can be used all year round like the P Zero Race rather than an all out race tyre.

Alban released the results. It's much faster than Fusion 5 11storm, but Hutchinson still needs more more more work to catch the leading position of all round class.

I don't care about those last watt's.

I want my tires whole, when i do some gravel with my roadbike. And any tire can puncture, so i want to be able to change a tyre on the side of the road. (GP5000 )


Anybody know's if they make them at the same factory as the Fusion 5?
As far as I know Hutchinson also made tires voor Mavic and Pirelli. Mavic tyres don't exist anymore and Pirelli's are made in an other factory now a days.

I know Pirelli make road bike tyres in their own factory now but according to BRR's results the P Zero Race TLR and BlackBird perform almost identically.

The Hutchinson is 3 layers of 127tpi on the sides and 2 layers under center while the Pirelli is 2 layers of 120tpi on the sides and 3 layers under center. The interior mold characteristics are different with the Hutchinson being mostly smooth and the Pirelli being densely ribbed. The mold release marks on the exterior of each tire is different. The Hutchinson has sprues / chicken strips while the Pirelli has flatter circles dotting the shoulder of the tire.

And most importantly their made in different countries.

Hutchinson have shown they can make a really fast gravel tyre with the Caracal Race, it'd be interesting if they made a thinner Race version of the Blackbird, could be a very quick tyre.

Looking at BRR, the Caracal Race is a fair bit thinner than the Blackbird which will affect rolling resistance.

I'm going to give these a shot. Excel Sports (US) has a deal for a pair for less than $70. I'm going with the 30mm version. Seems very low risk to me.

30mm. Stated weight is 310 per so these are under. A good start!

Likely won't mount until spring so no updates until next year.

I still haven't mounted mine. We have snow on the ground so not much riding going on in my neck of the woods.
