I would like to see some data as to how much difference carbon spokes make to cx ray. Here is one comparing cx ray to traditional round spokes;
https://blog.flocycling.com/aero-wheels ... nd-spokes/
9 sec over 40km so not a lot.I would expect an even smaller gain of CF over cx ray as the spokes have a larger cross section though they are fewer in number.
I am struggling to see the benefit for my use at this point. Cx ray are reilable, strong and durable.
Others may see a benefit? I would like to see some data though.

Typical translational wind tunnel testing is not suited for measuring spike differences. Due to the fact that they are mostly measure translational drag and not power to spin. So it's no surprise they didn't fine a significant difference

the benifit is stiffness, not aero... and yes at the expense of comfort in many cases which can be controlled with tire/tire pressure.

Thanks. :)
No reason for me to bother then as an ageing never was who is not a sprinter. I prefer durability. Have had shit hit my spokes on occasion.

^ I've had sticks and rocks sent at my wheels too. Cadex50's with carbonspokes.. no issues so far. I think the are durable.

That is a positive. :)
I am all for carbon frames and there was significant fear and loathing of them initially.
Perhaps my fears are also unfounded. ;)

I noticed that LB is now offering the Alpina steel spokes for the AR25 builds. They are 1g lighter than the CX Ray. Has anyone tried them? My friend just ordered a set of AR25 with them (28 spokes for the rear based on my recommendation).

I am going to use them on my next build (I build my wheels myself) I already have the spokes and they are very thin in the middle...
Still waiting for the rims to arrive though...

Very nice. Let us know how hard it is to build them. Do you have the actual weight you could report?

I'm using them on Nextie AGX44 with CarbonTi hubs. 24 front and rear. Hammered them offroad and am heavy. No issues with detensioning or trueness. Based on my experience and that of others, they feel significantly stiffer than SuperCX, and very rarely break unlike the latter.

Farsports are using them in the new C wheel lineup

That was a great read and had some info I've been wondering about for a while. Only this is that they seemingly neglect to mention that carbon spokes enable lower spoke counts and how that factors into the system drag.
