Some scale photos on AE reviews show the rim brake set at 1212g without tape. That's very impressive for a sub $600 wheelset.

Has anyone here ever ridden these rings?
I'm interested in the opinion on the rim brake version..
How stiff and responsive is wheelset ?
Would it be a smart trade for a Fulcrum Zero?
I would like to reduce the weight, but I would not like to lose the stiff rings, because my first choice is hilly riding !!

I have the Elitewheels Drive 50 (rim brake). It's a nice product, light and stiff as you'd imagine. They also have good customer service. I had some play developing on my rear wheel and they sent me a replacement for the bearings free of charge, covering also the cost of the lbs.

Guys on chinertown.com ride those wheels and they loved it. I just received custom wheels from yuanan which is an OEM factory for elite (and ridley, ffwd, rose etc.) and I am super impressed with then. Can only recommend customer service and pricing. Tbh nothing can beat those edges for road at this price. I chose the same hubs for my gravel setup and they are mega.

The gravel version looks like a good option for people running 28+ mm tyres. Only goes to 45mm depth and may be hookless?
Ordered a set of elitewheels from alieexpress - tubeless - 1282g claimed weight - bitex 305 hubs. Showed up and weighed over 1600g and they are not bitex 305 hubs. Waiting to hear back from elite before filing w/ my bank (credit card).
Follow up - after sending pictures they got back to me and said they shipped me the wrong wheels. The kicker is they then told me they're closed for the new year from Feb 4th to the 17th and they'll come back with a solution after. I told them to come back with a solution now and enact it after or I'd need to disupte only because of the time lapse between purchase, receiving and now this.

I bit the bullet and ordered these Elite Wheels Edge wheels on Aliexpress on October 16th from the official Elitewheels Store. I chose the rim brake 40mm deep with standard steel bearings. 514CHF including the shipping.
They were built and shipped out on October 24th - much sooner than what the seller estimated (25 days). I chose the standard Aliexpress shipping as recommended by the vendor. Things looked fine for the first few days and went through the standard tracking processes, then nothing after October 28th. I checked the tracking every morning to be disappointed that there were no updates. I followed up several times with the seller via the AE messaging platform and they responded that they were checking with their logistics provided. The seller was responsive to my weekly messages, but reading the response "hello friend, please be patient" over and over again was maddening.
Weeks passed and the Guaranteed Delivery date of November 20th had come and gone - 40 days since it was shipped from China. For context, most of my AE orders take about 14 days to arrive from China to Switzerland. I accepted the dissappointing fate that the wheels were lost in transit and I needed to wait till December 25th to claim a refund with AE. Finally on November 25th out of the blue, the traking was updated - Arrived at local airport. Hope was restored! A few more agonizing days passed and after paying the 30CHF in customs fees I received the wheels on December 3rd. So a total of 48 days from ordering to receiving the wheels.
The wheels were packaged well from Elite and handled carefully by the delivery companies (EMS and Swiss Post) – no damage to the box. Included in the package was the rim tape, some QR (95g) skewers, and some carbon brake pads. I opted to use my DT Swiss titanium RWS skewers and Campagnolo Red pads instead of items provided by Elite. My wheels came in at 680g for the rear and 589g for the front – 1283g with the provided rim tape installed. Not as light as others, but for the price this cannot be beat. The finish of the wheels is very good and the brake track nicely machined. The rear ratchet hub is not too loud, compared to my other wheelsets with Carbon Ti SB Hubs.
It’s too cold at the moment to properly test the wheels. They’ll be used on a trip in December and I can provide my impressions then.

Just make sure to check if they put enough grease on the ratchet, bearings and endcaps. Those Chinese builders like leave few of those spots barely lubed.iamraymond wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 12:08 pmI bit the bullet and ordered these Elite Wheels Edge wheels on Aliexpress on October 16th from the official Elitewheels Store. Good point. I accidentally pulled off one of the end caps when removing the packaging material and noticed that the bearing and the cap only had a very light layer of clear grease. I'll be sure to give it a good coating of grease.
I was swithering about buying these during AliE's Black Friday sales. I already have a pair of the Edge 45 mm "gravel" disc wheels (31e/24i) which are great, so was tempted to try out set of 28 mm ew rim brake wheels. In the end I opted for 45 mm Go Zone carbon spoked wheels that are 26/19 e/i as they're a bit lighter and likely compatible with more of my rim bikes than 28 ew. I'm still on the hunt for a pair of wheels for my new SL8, but the Edges are so good I might just keep the cash in my pocket. (Ideally, I would like 50mm deep that are about 150-200g lighter). The hub sealing in particular has impressed as I've ridden them in quite a few downpours and they're still silky smooth, whereas my previous experience with cheaper far eastern hubs (Bitex, Novatech, Chosen etc) is that the bearings start to get gritty as soon as they get a sniff of water.
Which Gozone did you go for? I ended up plumping for the Elite Edge and they may actually be arriving by DPD today. Hope they fit my Lemond based on seeing Reddit post of one with 28mm Reynolds wheels. If not may need to look at alternatives like gozone.bobones wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 4:38 pmI was swithering about buying these during AliE's Black Friday sales.
