The EvoS were front runners, but there are complaints about the finishing quality and durability which are putting me off.
Where?

As far as I know, only one guy complained about it (on this thread), and I think its his friend that has the wheels, not him. Obviously he is not a fan of FS. Personally have wheels from Wheelsfar, but for Farsports new wheels, I read all good things about rim finish (and everything else) on this thread. Naturally, they will not have thick paint on them in order to get this weight.

What about the No6 50/58 set?

Yes, it's a Farsport. But they look much better (IMO). And they use the 5mm spokes.
Definitely worth considering, but I'll be running 28s so front is probably a bit too wide.
No, front wheel of the 50/58 set is 24internal/31.5 external (or 30.0 external at the hooks).
Okay, thanks. Added to the shortlist. 31e/24i is probably my ideal width.

Yes, everyone has their own preferences and expectations, but I don't think the raw, unpainted look would faze me too much.

FWIW I haven't noticed any significant imperfections or scratches. Admittedly they haven't been outside yet.
I have Evo S6/5 and they have no more significant scratches than any other wheels...

Adding 2 cents from me. Received pair of S5s mid-November and managed to have only 1 ride on them (almost winter where I live). While cleaning my bike I noticed to be a groove on the rim near one of the nipples of the rear wheel. Upon closer inspection, it seems like a missing carbon fiber strand. While it is not very deep, it is noticeable to the touch.

Contacted FARSPORTS regarding that matter, apart from receiving information it shouldn't affect performance and safety of the wheel, I didn't get any other support. I don't worry much about it, but still a bummer after owning 3 faulty-free carbon wheel sets.

For anyone interested - my new set of Hyper 58’s with the RD270 Hubs, paintless glossy finish, 24mm INT 30mm EXT weighing in at 1336g with rim tape. I’d say they are pretty close to the claimed weight of sub 1300 if I remove the rim tape.

Hopefully going to receive them before Christmas, fingers crossed. The plan is to shod them with 29mm Continental Aero 111 on the front and either 30mm GP5000 S TR on the rear or the TT.

I’m eager to see how they compare to my 40mm Hypers.

Once again, very happy from a cost point of view under €900 for a 58mm wheelset.

I have also 40mm, and want to go for 50mm (Still deciding which model: S5 EVO, or Hypers RD270 or Hypers DTSwiss). Let us know how acceleration and stifness compares with the 40mm.

Have also received mine. Top service and delivery. Hyper 50 rd270@ 1240gr. Weight is amazing. Look forward to testing them versus roval rapide and enve 3.4

Looks pretty bad in those photos, and it would annoy me too.

Which carbon spokes are those? Those are not the 270 hubs, but the same ones as 9-velo and no6.

FS calls those 8275. For T head carbon spoke only.

Nice rim finish. Is there any weight penalty comparing to paintless glossy?

With this 8275 hub are the spokes then as wide as on the Farsports S series (+5mm)?
Do you maybe have technical sheet of the hub? Which bearings are being used?

The hub is on the H Works website listed as 'SR288' FS calls it RD8275.
