Stupidly bunny hopped a kerb today at 30kmh and didn't get the rear high enough. Rear tyre hit the kerb and blew out instantly with a pinch flat. I've repaired the latex tube so will see how that lasts but does this tyre look done to you? I've used a park tool patch on the inside to help but there's a very very slight bulge where the damage is...

Oddly enough I did something similar recently.
But I think the side of my carbon rim delaminated. And I should probably throw it away or use it for decoration.

I threw my tyre away because I run tubeless. Maybe running tubes may be fine.

Damn that's a shame. Hope the wheel wasn't expensive.

My Veloflex Corsa EVO has the same damage (caused by rolling over a snail shell...). Would tire boot able to permanently fix it?

Booting will definitely get you home, but the problem with booting it is that there will most likely be a bulge due to the lack of intact cords, so wear will be faster at that point; the tyre will end up being thinner there. If you're using a tube you might get some extra mileage by doing this, but ultimately the solution is going to be a new tyre once you get sick of replacing the worn-through boot(s). Been there, done that.

Cheers for the replies. Yeah it's annoying as the tyre has loads of life left and TCs aren't cheap. Never mind, could be worse.

I think it's better to use vulcanizing glue as it won't stiffen and later brake like superglue

Just type vulcanizing gluecin google. It's a specific glue for rubber so it won't be stiff like super glue

This has worked a treat by the way. Regular puncture repair patch to the inside of the tyre as a boot. Park tool patches on the latex tube. Vulcaniaing glue in the outside cut on the tyre. Done approx 500km on it now and no problems at all :)
