Usually I try to abide by the recommendations of manufactures, but this completely voids the purpose of wide tires.
I think I will go with 28c/30c for Fondo racing with around 70psi on both.
73kg plus bike and I’ve been racing crits on 28mm with Hed Vanquish at around 73 front 75 rear, feels amazing, grip is superb

Just for reference I've been running my 28Cs at 80psi front 85psi rear at 97kg combined bike and rider weight. Seems pretty perfect, that's with latex tubes but will likely stay the same when my tubolitos arrive.

Has anyone found that the 28mm version now comes in slightly narrower? I'm not complaining, just wondering if there has been a change.

I bought two in around mid 21, they measured 30.5mm on a 22.5mm inner. Bought two more in Jan 22, they measured 29.4 on the same inner and the tire hight is a few mm shorter. It seems like they would be true to size on a 19c rim.

Just installed 23mm pair on older wheels 21mm ext 13.5mm width. Inflated to 100 psi WAM 22mm, maybe expand 1mm over time.

Old GP4000S 23mm inflated to 25mm eventually
Old Gaterskin 25mm inflated to 25mm eventually

The GP5000 is the narrowest I seen, like the old attack 22?

Reviving this old thread: This a question primarily for those who have used more recent batches of the regular clincher GP5000 with tubes either in 25mm or 28mm version on 17c (17mm internal width) rims. How wide and tall do the 25 and 28 mm versions measure exactly, especially AFTER several reinflations and use?
The BRR site gives 26.3mm for the 25mm version on 17c rims, but here, as well as in other forums, I've read very different numbers.

At the moment, I use GP4000S II 25mm tires on Fulcrum Racing 3 17c rims, and they measure 27.4 and 26.9 mm wide (just realized one is wider than the other).

I was planning to replace them with GP5000 25mm ones, but I wonder if I'd be better off with the 28mm version. However, if the 28mm measures wider than 28mm max. on the 17c rims, they would not really work for 2 reasons (tire clearance on the frame and the use of Schwalbe SV20 extra light tubes, which are officially rated up to 25mm tire width)

I'm using the 28mm GP5000 on 18mm internal DT Swiss rims. They measure out to 27.08mm at 60psi

Thanks. How long have you had them? Is this the stretched width after some use?

This is after several months of usage. I’m sure they’ve stretched out as much as they can.

Are the GP5000 Transparant 25c and the Blackwall 25c the same tire with the same rolling resistance. I like the "tanwall" version for looks, but keep hearing they are slower than the blackwall version. Any truth to that?

From what I understand the tan wall is just painted on now, so it is heavier.

28mm

Black 240g
Transparent 245g
Cream 275g

25mm

Black 225g
Transparent 230g
Cream 255g

Interestingly for the tubeless S TR black and transparent are the same weight.

I'm talking about the clincher GP5000's. They do have a Cream that is painted on and heavier, but they also have a transparant that is more of a darker color, but I'm curious if they have a different rolling resistance than the black. I assume the cream and black have the same rolling resistance just added weight.

Thanks, that seems to confirm that GP4000s II 25mm = GP5000 28 mm in actual width on 17-18c rims. I wonder if it's safe to use Schwalbe SV20 Extra Light tubes (officially rated up to 25mm width tires) with the GP5000 28? I've been using the same tube in the 25mm GP4000S II for years.

Anyone have GP5000 clincher on rims with mini hooks? Seeing as how the tires themselves say to mount them on hooked rims only, Im wondering if mini hooks count?
