The new SLX geo is the same as the 2012 Ultimate AL; 'Sport Pro Geo'. The same 73.5 STA with increments in stack and reach through 7 sizes.

Yes but it isn't the same as the old SLX which was better for proportioned sizes. If you check out the seat tube measurements on the Medium and Large, quite different than 52 - 54 - 56. 'Sport Pro Geo' is just marketing BS, for offering one less size and saving a stack of money. Not everyone is a six footer, and not everyone is proportioned perfectly. One reason why Ernesto Colnago offers so many sizes, because he knows and goes by this fitting strategy. Think Colnago, not Giant I say ...

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Maybe if Canyon were charging Ernesto prices... You can't blame a value orientated brand for targeting the majority.

unfortunatly the screws are wrong (they are too thick-m4x8; 2mm inbus)...so if I won`t send them back, I`ll be willing to give them awey to some fellow member

Hi guys,

I hope you could give me some advise. I have a possibility to join the club of Canyon owners, but actually it is a Ultimate CF SLX 2010 model. Country manager told me that 2011+2012 models had a different type of carbon used, more stiff and comfy. I have a hard times to find that out and for example to get know if the CF SLX tested in German Tour magasine - http://www.tour-qtr.com/epaper_4_2011 page 76 was the 2011 model or the previous one. Because country manager told me that also 2011 model had allready press fit BB - and in the Tour test, it has BSA. So honestly, if the tested model would have same qualities as the 2010 model I could buy (new one), it would be more or less decised :D
But right now, I just dunno.. don´t you have some more info?
Thanks a lot!

the Ultimate CF SLX up until and including model year has a BSA bottom bracket

(it could be that the quote re 2011 / pressfit relates to the aeroad that has pressfit)

there are still some 2012 CF SLX's to have at reduced prices, so now is the time to get one

don't know about different carbon fibre between the 2010 and later

To be totally honest, another bike is the last thing I need or can afford

However, once I get a job...well...I would not be against that notion...

I've sent quite a few things to one of my best mates who emigrated to Adelaide. There were no issues with it. I even got my LBS to pack them for me.
