Here is my winter hack. Danish winter is very very wet, frosty and roads/bike paths get huge amounts of salt. So I have this bianchi for winter riding. A mix of old ultegra 9 speed and 105, but have most of the 105 parts lying around, just need to find a bit of time. Frame is with carbon rear part and a steel fork.

This winters training bike/next summers gravel grinder.

Open New U.P. with 3t cockpit, Pro seatpost with Specialized Romin saddle, Ultegra r8070 levers+calipers, dura ace rotors, Roval SLX24 rims, XT m8050 RD, Quarq DZero power meter cranks with a wolftooth 42t chainring.

Running 40mm studded tires and no fenders, since we're mostly dealing with snow and ice this time of year.

Makes me cold just looking at it. Where was this pic taken? Any problems with free hub freezing?

Iceland. It's not really that cold. Worst we've had so far was down to around -10 degrees celsius on a ride yesterday.

No mechanical problems due to the cold, but garmin/di2/pm/light batteries drain like crazy.

Ah, I was wondering too - thinking it looked very Shetland, but colder, so pretty close

During the winter I am riding my CX bike a Cube Cross Race C:62 pro.
Bicycle is mostly still with stock components, but I already swapped for a Fizik Cyrano R1 Seatpost and Fizik Arione R3 Saddle.
A Cyrano R3 Bull Handlebar and Cyrano R1 Stem are waiting to be swapped after the season.
Furthermore soon I will be changing to a DT Swiss ER 1400 Spline 21 wheelset with Shimano Shimano SM-RT99-S rotors.
Sorry but not sorry for the dirty bike on the picture.

a bit late for this winter, but I take delivery of this one in a couple of weeks and use it as my daily commuter(365 days a year) , training bike and some shorter Audax rides:

A (used) Whyte Suffolk (I will add a rack, dynamo hub/lights and lighte tubeless ready wheels with Hutchinson Sector 28's (tubeless) .... it's a gravel/adventure bike that can take wide tyres and has eyelets for mudguards etc .... the seatpost will be a bit higher when I set it up correctly for my size

Image

as you see it, it weighs just under 10kg .... I I can bring the weight down to 8,5-9kg I will be happy
